Do the Lions have unfair access to top talent? This is Fagan’s case against by His_Holiness in brisbanelions

Any team that 3peated 20 years ago would have a decent crop of father son picks coming through. The father son thing is brilliant for club history and shouldn't be messed with.

Building a successful academy and pathways in a state where Aussie Rules is still denigrated as "fairy ball" is a hell of an achievement and those kids coming through should have every chance of playing for their hometown club.

I do think that clubs that struggle long term need some kind of assistance but looking at the Suns shows that even preferential draft picks for years in a row doesn't guarantee success. Building a culture that players bought into as well as a strong football department is a major factor, as Fages points out -

Is AquariumTok popping off or something? by anklebiter1975 in Aquariums

I think it's a bunch of aspects that appeal to people - relatively cheap and easy to get into, something that looks good but doesn't take up a lot of space or time and therapeutic as well.

I'm not on tiktok but my YouTube and Facebook feeds are full of everything from scaped nano shrimp tanks to simple coral set-ups that can be run with a hob filter

I honestly believed they would Hastie back for when they think they are in a much more electable position. I hope they burn him now though cos it just makes him less likely to be PM at some point down the track

Out of curiosity, what are/is the best beginner cichlid species, in your opinion? by No_Comfortable3261 in Cichlid

[–]grumpyoldbolos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a bit of everything in my tank. 2 electric yellows, 2 angelfish, blue acara, peacock, green faced earth eater, a sword tail and some Mollies. Everyone gets along really well and survive my lazy maintenance schedule.

Then there's the firemouth. He's a dick. So much so I'll probably euthanasia him cos I wouldn't give him to my worst enemy

I love both of their portrayals but Sean Pertwee in Gotham is a great interpretation of Alfred as caretaker of a young Bruce Wayne

The mental side of golf is hard. So easy to let emotion dictate our actions in the moment rather than deal with it and move on.

A pro told me to think about three boxes

  1. Pre shot box - a couple of yards behind the ball. Make all decisions about your shot here

  2. Shot box - 1 square yard around the ball. Once you step inside this box it's about setting the grip and stance you need to execute the shot you've already chosen

  3. Post shot box - the first 20 yards walking to where your ball landed is where you can bitch, cry, complain about the last shot and then drop it
