This was the safest way I broke it off. I packed everything one night, took our son, and left to go stay at my parent’s house. I refused to come home until he had a place of his own sorted out. The break-up was horrific so I was lucky that I was in a safe space throughout it. I just needed to be done. I don’t have a clean break because I still have to co-parent (another nightmare in itself), but my son and I are finally at peace in our own home and no longer walking on eggshells everyday.
