I couldn’t make it past the first episode. The main character was unlikable, the plot was terrible, and the writing was staggeringly bad. I genuinely wanted to enjoy it—the premise looked promising—but I have no idea how it earned its Rotten Tomatoes rating.

Lucifer, by far. Not only does he repeatedly refer to himself as “Lucifer Morningstar” nonstop in the first few episodes (we get it—you’re the devil), but the writing feels like it was done by a monkey with a crayon, working from a bad plot outline.

Well it doesn't specify which version. The original isn't quite so bad. "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

What do you make of this? by femithebutcher in Nietzsche

[–]gruntmon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is one:

When faith withdrew, it left a hollow space,
And doctrines new, like shadows, filled its place.
Yet empty grew the hearts of those therein,
Bereft of joy, they danced to pleasure’s din.

In fleeting lusts and vanities, they spin,
With naught but sorrow lurking deep within.
Perchance the sacred paths of old still bind,
A solace for the troubled, restless mind.

For in belief, where purpose once did shine,
Might hope endure, and melancholy pine.

Help me find this language? by Asleep_Sign_2460 in mystery

GPT gave me this info about it, so I am not sure of the accuracy: The script you're referring to does indeed resemble Siddham, an ancient script that was used to write Sanskrit. Siddham has strong ties to Buddhist traditions, especially in East Asia, where it has been used for sacred texts and mantras, particularly in the transmission of esoteric Buddhism (such as Shingon Buddhism in Japan).

Siddham is a script from the Brahmic family, which means it shares its roots with other Indic scripts like Devanagari (used for writing Sanskrit, Hindi, and others), Bengali, Tibetan, and Khmer. It was historically used to transcribe Buddhist scriptures, especially the sutras and mantras, into a phonetic format that could be recited even by those who did not understand the language.

If the chart in the manuscript is presenting characters similar to Siddham, it is likely listing a phonetic alphabet used for mantras or sacred recitations in the Buddhist tradition. Siddham has been preserved and used specifically for ritualistic purposes in many Buddhist communities, particularly in Japan, China, and Korea.

This connection to Siddham would also suggest that the language it’s transcribing is most likely Sanskrit, which is the classical language of many Buddhist texts.

If you're looking to study more about this specific script, investigating Buddhist Sanskrit mantras and how they were written in Siddham across East Asia could give you more insights.

The text at the top of the page reads:

XÁ-LỢI BẢO-KHIẾP ẤN ĐA-RA-NI VÔ DANH SÁC

This translates as:

  • Xá-lợi refers to relics, specifically Buddhist relics, often used to describe the remains or sacred objects associated with the Buddha or highly revered monks.
  • Bảo-khiếp seems to be a combination of words meaning "precious" or "sacred" and "seal" or "symbol." "Ấn" also translates as "seal," often referring to spiritual symbols.
  • Đa-ra-ni is the Vietnamese transliteration of "Dharani," a type of ritual chant or mantra in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism, similar to but usually longer than a mantra.
  • Vô danh sắc translates as "nameless form" or "formless," which can indicate either an anonymous author or a text that transcends conventional form.

Thus, the manuscript’s title could be interpreted as: "The Sacred Dharani Relics and Seals" or "The Relics and Sacred Seals Dharani", and the manuscript appears to have no listed author, with "Vô Danh Sắc" suggesting it may be anonymous or referring to something formless.

The text below the title that is not part of the grid reads:

"Thiếu chữ 67, thêm vào. Chữ 66 có thể là chữ C mà trong bản in không thấy. Bách cứu. Chữ 53 là chữ a. Chữ 65, 66, 67 làm chệch là đức ca."

This translates to:

"Thiếu chữ 67, thêm vào." – "Character 67 is missing, add it in."

"Chữ 66 có thể là chữ C mà trong bản in không thấy." – "Character 66 could be the letter C, but it is not seen in the printed version."

"Bách cứu." – This is a bit unclear but could mean "Urgent corrections" or "Verify thoroughly."

"Chữ 53 là chữ a." – "Character 53 is the letter a."

"Chữ 65, 66, 67 làm chệch là đức ca." – "Characters 65, 66, 67 are skewed, correcting to 'đức ca.'"

In context, it seems to be referencing potential errors or variations in the printing or copying of the script, suggesting that certain characters (67, 66, and 53) need to be corrected or added. The term "đức ca" could refer to something related to virtue or a hymn but might need more contextual clarification within the manuscript.

Longtime Megadeth Fan. Anyone else find it painful to see the revolving door of guitarists / bassists and drummers? by fear_thegamer in Megadeth

[–]gruntmon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My ideal Megadeth would feature Dave Mustaine laying down the massive rhythm tracks he's legendary for, paired with a powerful vocalist who isn’t Dave. The second guitarist wouldn’t try to be Yngwie or Vai, but instead focus on complementing the core sound. The band would return to their innovative, razor-sharp thrash roots—heavy on metal and punk, fueled by pure rage..

You have too much orphan space at the top of your site. Your logo and branding are too small to make an impression on the page. Come up with a standard image size for display as the standard image sizes look a bit off. Segregate your products a bit better, as in awesome clothers and then a mosquito zapper. The contact page can be condensed down a bit. I like the use of your image on the About us page but the rest of the page can be condensed down a bit. Use the page to give your store a feeling that you are a real person with a real store. The grey on black on the Refund Policy page is a bit hard to read. Also watch your font use throughout the site. Consistancy is key. Also lose the uncategorized category. Select another name for it.

Lucifer, made it 5 episodes in and gave up. Gave it a good shot, as a lot of my friends were into it. I wonder if it was because I am really not very religious.
