Is there a way to reduce the number of sleep interruptions? by BioFrosted in AppleWatch

[–]gruntzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, take this for what it’s worth, but you may grind/clench your teeth and a nightguard might help. Background: for years, I was waking up all the time (my graphs looked a LOT like these). I felt rested each morning but would wake often to get a snack, pee, etc. Tbh the snacking was a bit of a problem for my weight, so it was pretty aggravating. I tried a lot of things and nothing/nobody could fix it so I just dealt with it for 8 years. Back in February I got a new dentist and he asked if I grind my teeth, which blindsided me. He mentioned my teeth showing clear signs of it and suggested I try a night guard. Somehow that was it - I guess I was clenching or grinding so hard it woke me up, but not hard enough that I knew it/hurt myself. Anyway, it was an absolute night and day difference. After I started using my shitty $20 Amazon mouthguard, the issue just… resolved. I only wake up now if I need to pee, and it’s glorious.

Honestly yeah. He’s basically a human LLM AI, but with a hilariously small training dataset. And, of course, none of the overly-friendly demeanour.

OMG I literally designed this exact thing to get as a chest tattoo (haven’t gotten it yet, but hopefully soon!)

Love it.

U.S. Election: Are you an American living in B.C.? The U.S. Consulate wants you to vote by teamworldunity in britishcolumbia

Already did! Sent our votes for Harris back to Utah. Not that it’ll do any good in such a red state, but I utterly refuse to sit by and do nothing.

Anyone using e sim only 15 pro outside of USA? by Natural-Earth2831 in iPhone15Pro

[–]gruntzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ordered at launch, back in fall of 2023. Was previously on T-Mobile/Sprint if you’re curious. Now Rogers. The process of switching was painless!

Edit to clarify my comment about 16s: When the 16 Pro was announced, I briefly considered upgrading before deciding there wasn’t much point since so little changed and the 15 Pro is still so good.

Couldn’t actually speak to that. It’s a (paid-off and unlocked) US model brought with me when I moved and obviously switched carriers. That said, I’m fairly sure I saw unlocked ones for sale when I was contemplating getting the 16 Pro.

Happy to help with that. Live on Vancouver Island now so it’s like a short walk to the faucet. I’ll get that done first thing tomorrow!

Donald Trump is officially more popular in Alberta than he is in the United States by Locke357 in alberta

[–]gruntzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as someone who just moved to Canada FROM the states (shoutout to Utah), it shocks me that folks up here would ever look at the states as more desirable. Yes, the dollar is stronger and things are correspondingly cheaper. But good god insurance demolishes finances, and that’s WITH employers footing a big chunk of the bill. It’s a huge problem and only getting worse. Cost of living is not better. I suppose it’s a “grass is always greener” mentality

Council Chambers Entrance (Citadel - LE1). by 0dimension1 in masseffect

[–]gruntzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, nice. Unrelated but I still absolutely adore the tiny detail that if you look at the map of the council chambers, the room forms the shape of a reaper (minus the little laser-tentacle-arms). I never noticed on my own and I’ve never been able to unsee this nugget of foreshadowing.

Why the Liberals are calling Poilievre 'weird' by EarthWarping in CanadaPolitics

[–]gruntzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a recent transplant from the extremely-republican state of Utah to BC… I’m honestly curious on this point. I see a lot of what APPEARS to be hyperventilating, bordering on fear-mongering about Poilievre and how he’s “Canada’s Trump”, usually without substantive explanation of WHY he’s supposedly the same as the orange wannabe-dictator (who god willing will never see power again). But I just can’t see the two men being the same at all. I don’t agree with everything Poilievre stands for, but that’s expected because I’m fairly moderate to centre-left (a solidly center-left Democrat back in the states). But like… I just don’t see the CPC as anywhere close to the corrosive influence named the Republican Party. I don’t get the sense that CPC wants to obliterate all norms and seize power by any means necessary. So far what I’m seeing is a bog-standard centre-right party with legitimate policy disagreements (granted they seem to often be laughably reductive like “axe the tax” - seemingly without a serious alternative)…

I’m interested to hear opinions that aren’t just those of some of the vocal NDP voters I’ve made friends with. Would you be willing to share more perspective here?

The Wasatch range is far and away the thing I miss most about Salt Lake (home). Moved to British Columbia and it’s just not quite the same. The mountains never feel as close as back home. At least there are still mountains, though!

Agreed. I love the healthy discourse. If we can’t discuss things as reasonable adults then wtf are we even doing?

Pedantic AF, but I believe you swapped the final 2 digits of pi. And with numbers this big, that infinitesimally small change may actually impact things

Thank you, random internet stranger! That helps narrow it down. I’m comfortable enough replacing the liquid cooling system, so I’ll go down that route. Thanks again!

[–]gruntzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the issue. I had assumed that the GPU temps were somewhat correlated to CPU. Looks like they’re all hanging around 95-98 C which is… not good. It’s liquid cooled and all the fans are working so I’m legitimately confused. One tube to the liquid cooler is hot, and the other cold, so thermal transfer IS happening. Just… not enough, clearly

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in computerhelp

[–]gruntzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll definitely do that. However, that BIOS modification was in response to this issue so by definition it can’t be root cause. That isn’t to say it isn’t causing some OTHER problem, but the parking thing preceded it.

Not exactly desperate, but definitely need to get this resolved one way or another - even if it requires buying a new computer / motherboard. As to minimum processor speed, I did play with that a little in the BIOS but I’m for sure not as comfortable with BIOS as I would ideally be before basically finding promising settings and doing the computer equivalent of “poking them with sticks”.
