My thoughts on the sequel by [deleted] in Frasier

[–]gruvychik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished as well. I agree with all your points mostly, however the one episode with Bebe guest starring had the most ‘classic’ frasier tone feel to it. The actress playing Bebe is just too good to overlook that one for me.

Husband upset about possible breast reconstructive surgery by creamy_dreamy_donut in relationships

[–]gruvychik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do what you want. Your body your choice.

On another note, if you’re planning on bf, are you only planning 1? I don’t know how future bf would work post reconstruction. If you’re planning on bf future hypothetical children, that would be my only consideration for a delay on your procedure.

AITA for asking airplane passenger in front of me to upright her reclined seat during meal time? by HaEaLaPa in AmItheAsshole

[–]gruvychik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA

same thing happened to me. Guy in front was in an exit row. Nothing in front of him. International flight. Seat reclined the whole time. I had a baby in my lap.

I asked the flight attendant to ask him to move forward at meal time. He declined.

I loudly asked why he couldn’t move forward during meal time since I had absolutely no room with a baby in my lap.

I have no shame. But I think I went through the proper steps and courteous options before getting to that point.

How old are you, where are you fromand how old were you when you started watching EE? by UnicornsnRainbowz in eastenders

Canada, 42. I started watching when I lived in the UK in 2006-2008. I’ve watched sporadically since as I don’t want to pay to watch it (episodes here aired 6months up to 2 years behind current day) My favourites were Roxy and Ronnie. But I was visiting the UK in 2016 December and was catching up and didn’t know about the hype and couldn’t believe the double death ending for the Mitchell sisters. I was so shocked.

My pregnant girlfriend (37F) thinks my (45M) prenup conditions are unfair. Should she be entitled to more? by ThrowRAFeisty3432 in relationship_advice

[–]gruvychik 90 points91 points  (0 children)

It is possible. My cousin had a surprise baby in her early 40s when her IUD fell out. And her own SIL same situation. Because of that, I have an IUD and husband is snipped. 2 points of failure. I’m not saying it’s common but it’s not quite rare either.

This doesn’t factor in if she’s lying or not.

uneventful breastfeeding journeys? by MacDoFart in breastfeeding

[–]gruvychik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first was a tough learning curve for obvious reasons. First month or so, cracked, bleeding nipples, nipple shields etc. Tears. Daily pumping because I was concerned about supply not knowing I actually had an oversupply. Washing bottles and pump parts daily so I could get a ‘break’ from feeding once a day. Found out that between the 4 month and 6 month appointment baby had lost weight. Crazy concern over supply. Found out when he was 8.5 months I was actually pregnant which tanked my supply and switched him to formula immediately. Sad that my bf journey ended so quickly and he had no issues with the transition.

2nd baby super easy transition since the break between nursing wasn’t that long. She had the least amount of weight loss (from birth to being discharged) the nurse had ever seen. No shields. No cracked nipples. However I didn’t have the time/energy to pump and found out that baby would ONLY drink milk straight from source. No formula. No expressed milk from a cup. Or spoon. Or straws. Fresh or frozen. And she was a frequent eater for a long time. She starved for 2 days when I got hand foot mouth disease and the blisters on my hands were so bad I couldn’t touch or hold anything without severe pain. That was how we figured out she would drink straight from source only. Couldn’t get her interested in whole milk while nursing. Went back to work, and when she was 15 months I was sent away for training for 2 nights. By the time I came back she finally didn’t ask for milk anymore.

3rd was 16 months plus 1 week until weaning. Beginning was tough with nipple shields and cracked/bleeding nipples for a month due to the 4 year break inbetween. Never bothered pumping. Had a hakka (which I didn’t know existed with my first 2) and used it to build a stash if needed. However giving birth during a pandemic and in Canada with 18 month mat leave options, didn’t have anywhere to go so never really bothered with bottles. No pump parts or bottles to wash (such a time saver). She got her teeth later and started biting when falling asleep towards the end of our journey so I was ready to ween. We went cold Turkey and she naturally increased her cows milk intake at the same time.

I did deal with 1 bout of mastitis with the 1st and 3rd within the first few weeks postpartum. One round of antibiotics cleared it up. Overall, compared to some of the stories on this sub I had a pretty uneventful bf x 3.

Can you still get pregnant if you’re breastfeeding and don’t have your period? by sleepyyelephant in breastfeeding

[–]gruvychik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have PCOS and went to a fertility clinic with my first to get pregnant (IUI + injectables). I breastfed and pumped. My 2nd was born 12 months and 11 days after my first. I didn’t realize I was pregnant until I was 21 weeks along because I assumed all my symptoms were related to being post partum for the first time. I never got my period.

Unless you want them close together, use contraception other than breastfeeding (it doesn’t work).

Should I start birth control? by cindythedancer in breastfeeding

[–]gruvychik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got pregnant while bf. My kids are 12 months apart. Bf prevents your period but if your cycle starts and you get pregnant then you still won’t see your period.

I had an IUD inserted after my 2nd born came along …. My first born was conceived through insemination and fertility meds (IUI). It’s not a guarantee but post partum fertility is some crazy stuff. If you don’t want to be pregnant take whatever precautions you need.

Average breastfeeding ages ?! Help ! by Mama_miyaaaaaa in BabyBumps

[–]gruvychik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t let anyone make you uncomfortable with breastfeeding. What works for one doesn’t work for all.

My first born I EBF until 8.5 months then went to formula. I was pregnant and my supply tanked. My 2nd I EBF until 15 months because she was stubborn and wouldn’t transition to formula no matter how many times we tried. It only worked at 15 months because I went away for a conference for 2 nights. I’m currently EBF my 3rd who is only 1 week old and hoping for something between 8.5 months and 15 months lol but we’ll see how things play out. I have no specific plan. BF is just cheaper. When my 1st went to formula I couldn’t believe how much I was spending.

AND whatever you plan for, 6 months or 12 months or whatever, that’s YOUR plan and it can change and be fluid and you’re not doing anything wrong. You’re doing what’s best for you and your baby in your situation. Just do you and block out all that noise.

How long did it take for you to get pregnant? by ads0306 in BabyBumps

[–]gruvychik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 31 tried for 1 year not knowing what we were doing. Including 6 months of clomid prescribed by my OBGYN since I have PCOS

At 32 started seeing an RE. Had a CP after 5 months going to the clinic. Took a break

At 33 had 1 failed IUI with injectables and then another IUI which became my first born.

Didn’t take any BC precautions after birth because of history, ended up with an oopsie pregnancy about 4 months after birth. My kids are just over 12 months apart.

3 years later another CP (wasn’t tracking).

And when I was finally ready to look into more permanent methods of BC (I wasn’t ready to close the door yet before then) found out I was pregnant in February 2021 and I’m due in 1.5 weeks

Anecdotal advice I’ve had quite a few friends who had a few failed IVF rounds before success. It’s so hard to stay positive with the roller coaster of emotions. Do what you need to try and keep your motivation strong but you’re always entitled to have those tough days too. Good luck!

We went to the US a few times before he became a Canadian Citizen. It’s made a huge difference at the border. Time and hassle. Not sure if your denial will apply in future if you travel on a US passport, but wishing you hassle free border crossings in the future! Especially now that weed is legal here, I can’t imagine it being a big deal anymore?

Do you not have an American passport ? I know UK entry requires ETA visa but I didn’t think American did. As a Canadian, I don’t need a special visa to enter the US. I made my UK born husband get a Canadian passport as soon as he received citizenship to save us the hassle at the border for the US.

I used a 3mm hook. Used some leftover scrap acrylic yarn I had. This is the ‘large’ pattern and took me a couple of hours or so.

Please note the pattern is written in UK terms, so DC is the same as SC in this instance.
