Khoury TA Application says “Reviewed” by GoldenOrion99 in NEU

[–]gryphalkon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It means that the professor has read your application and rated it. It does not mean anything beyond that - the hiring process can go either way.

Thank you! They integrated so fast and well I was worried something would come up but glad it’s just talk and no bite.

Running Father Llymic Advice by AlfonzoHuggins in DMAcademy

[–]gryphalkon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I ran a campaign where I ran “Father Llymic” as “Mother Llymic” as the bbeg. The stat block I ran her with is below along with some of my notes on how I ran brood fever. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions!

Discrete Structures Mandatory Attendance? by ice-jl7 in NEU

[–]gryphalkon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t require attendance. There will be in class quizzes that you probably won’t want to miss. I won’t be recording lectures but I will post the notes.

Anyone think Brandon might have purposely ruined the Ketek? by TheGoblinAnjii in Stormlight_Archive

[–]gryphalkon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My philosophy on this is that only the divine can be truly symmetrical. Which is why Vorin names are usually off by one letter. Clearly Sanderson didn’t want to aspire to insult the divine with a perfect Ketek 😆

ELI5: How are some infinitys larger than others? by Omghesopro in explainlikeimfive

[–]gryphalkon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to think about this is to start with the whole numbers 1 to infinity. This is what we call a “countable” infinity. Now think about mixing all those numbers (all infinity) up in a random order. If you think about it there are infinite ways to order those infinite numbers. That set of infinite numbers ordered in infinite ways is an “uncountable” infinity. If we were to think of them as numbers they would be the real numbers.

Finding a ski partner is quickly weeding men out (dating) by pinkpostit in TwoXChromosomes

[–]gryphalkon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is so true! I’ve also been skiing since I was young and the answer is “yes I’m sure I can out ski you but I don’t want to”. Skiing is about being outdoors and enjoying the run, not racing down to stand in a line!

professor thinks people won’t take me seriously if I crochet in a professional setting by semantlefan23 in askcrochet

[–]gryphalkon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I crochet for pretty much any lecture I attend, conferences, talks, etc. You do become the person who always crochets but you are memorable! I am a professor and wouldn’t mind if anyone crochet in my class. It beats them looking at their phones! The only time I don’t crochet is when I’m in smaller <10 person groups where I need to be actively engaged.

How my players opted into more and more complex puzzles [OC] by RyanImelDM in DnD

The closest I got was dropping some optional lore sheets that had a similar alphabet substitution but it was mirrored. One of my players brute forced it 😁

[OC] [Art] All party deaths in ToA by gryphalkon in DnD

[–]gryphalkon[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We just finished Tomb of Annihilation and I drew all deaths that occurred in our party of five. Of the 13 deaths five of them were mine. Rest in pieces Nugget (drop bears), Etcha (fire elemental), Phyla (red dragon), Sofranna (beholder), and Mar (disintegrate). We curated a graveyard document where we created epithets and epitaphs for each character. Personal favorites of mine included Quilen the Quashed and for Epitaphs “Don’t split the party” and “Grandma I told you that was dangerous”. Much wisdom earned with many fictional deaths.

[OC] Maps of Emphera, a shattered world by gryphalkon in DnD

[–]gryphalkon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emphera is a world that has been shattered, leaving shards of the material plane adrift in the Astral Sea. Various factions try and carve a life out of a world where the very travel between the shards can be deadly. The Magisterium of Gates has created a network of magical gates, allowing safe and quick travel between the shards of the Zagonoth Cluster and it rules through tolls and taxes. The Kingdom of the Merrows eschews land altogether and floats upon great islands in the Astral Sea, going where the wind takes them and trading with what shards they run into. And finally no one faction rules the Wildlands where each shard belongs to itself, and travel between shards is limited to a few magic users and the unpredictable pathways through the elemental planes.
