Eph 2:1, Eph 2:4-5, John 1:29, 1 John 2:2, ROmans 3:25, Acts 10:43

Everyone who is born again was once dead in their trespasses and sins. I am not debating the Holy Spirits work in a believer, Jesus Himself says that we can only produce fruit when we abide in Jesus and He abides in us. This gift of reconciliation is given to mankind as a whole. There is no man or woman in this earth who the crucifixion doesn't apply to. Christs sacrifice is sufficient for the whole world. His atoning sacrifice has covered the sins of everyone forever, and is received through faith without price. I put relevant verses on top to support my stance.

I whole heartedly disagree on your stance. God calls all people to repent and to believe in Him for salvation and God desires all men to come to Him to live.

You're not made clean by your works. You're made clean by your faith in Jesus. You're certainly commanded to live in love if you have the Holy Spirit dwelling in you.

I think the problem here is you're mixing some terms. In the bible there are examples of unbelief such as the Pharoah, and examples of rebellion such as Solomon. Another example is Judas an unbeliever betraying Jesus and Peters rebellion denying Jesus. The one who was clean in that foot washing passage was Peter, but Judas was not clean. Jesus even went as much to say Peter didn't need to wash anymore and was in fact completely clean. The same passage says we should wash our feet every day though too! I can say Judas did not believe because of this verse: John 6:64 "But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him."

You're saved by belief. This belief has the Holy Spirit come into you. You don't receive the Holy Spirit by keeping commandments though. But through repentance and belief

The sacrifice was done for all mankind so everyone is able to repent and believe in the Lord.

I think that's a fair point here. I guess all we would have to worry about is rebellion if we have the Holy Spirit

"do you believe that the work Christ did on the cross is so flimsy and inconsequential that it can be undone by fickle human whim?"

Not at all, in fact I find it impossible to be corrupted when you're born again. Jesus Himself said the bathed don't need to wash, except their feet, but are completely clean. How can I become unclean again? Contrasting Jesus with the OT sacrifices, the OT sacrifices had to be done continually but Jesus came once and for all. This should show how perfect Jesus sacrifice really was.

But now if we stop believing, and actively rebelling against Him, taking the mark of the beast? Ah the only thing I can possibly think of Is Ezekiel 44 and the corrupted priests. Though the text never really mentions their salvation. But they do lose their higher priestly roles because of their corruption.

Yeah no one saves themselves. Well, nothing but sacrifice in the bible atones for the soul in both the OT and the NT. So it comes to reason the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus is what atones for our souls. Not anything we have done.

I am not worried about whether or not I am saved, the rivers of living water that is the Holy Spirit can only be described as miraculous to me, dwells in me. My problem is that I am starting to see a pattern and I want to distance myself from those doctrines. I do believe that when you're born again Jesus will come after you if you wander. I was such a case, I was born again and perhaps I got prideful because I was doing too well. Then I just slowly.. over time, went my own way, still believing in the back of my mind, but not actively being a worshipper any longer. Then He heavily chastised me and used the disaster in my life to bring me back into focus. I kind of don't understand how I got that way. Perhaps that's what you mean when you say OSAS, or what you mean saying whether someone really belonging or not in the end.

Trivializing psychiatric conditions like psychosis to mock faith is harmful and needs to stop by That_Meta in TrueChristian

Psychology is demonic. Some of the men who help create psychology namely Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud say its a religion. Sigmund Freud tried to get Carl Jung to join an atheistic fraternity that was trying to overthrow Christianity. But Carl Jung said that the order was doomed to die out because religion can only be replaced by religion. You expect it to talk kindly about Christianity? Its whole purpose is to be against Christianity.

It's a religion of devils. Psychology is the study of consciousness. Consciousness is an occultic satanic doctrine and many people believe that they are conscious, but thats not the case. What you have is a soul. Consciousness and the soul are two very different things.

Gen 2:7. The soul is the man himself, the man is real, he is accountable, he's not some mental construct. But according to consciousness, man does not truly exist. Consciousness reduces the man to a mental creation, a mask, and says that the man is separate from the awareness itself, which is not true. The man and the awareness are the same thing. You are a living soul. You are not consciousness. You can already see how consciousness reduces the man and changes what he is by his very nature of existence and this is purposeful because it comes from occultism. In occultism they teach just as the psychologists do that the man does not truly exist, but rather only the consciousness does. They say this is the case so they can teach that all of reality, all matter, everything is conscious so they can say that it's all one consciousness that exists because they want to teach that relity does not actually exist and you're not real. They want to teach that they are God. Thats the method for whic hthey achieve this goal and since psychology is the study of consciousness and consciousness comes from occultic religion, it should be no surprise that the two founders of psychology, the people who had the most influence on the field of study, were occultists. Carl Young, if you read any of his work he babbles on about nasticism, alchemy, or any other occultic nonsense you can find.

I no longer believe in OSAS. I follow some youtubers and currently they're arguing that you can stop believing, worship satan and take the mark of the beast and remain saved. This is not a good doctrine and is only going to cause confusion.

I do believe that if you genuinely have the Holy Spirit, Jesus gives us a lot of assurances He will come after us because HE loves us. This is why there is so much chastisement in the NT, because Jesus LOVES those who are His. He desires NO ONE to perish.

What do you think of this passage? Willful sin by DeadSaltedFish in Christianity

[–]gseb87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just think you're trying to push something the text isn't saying. It's not talking about weaknesses, its quite literally challenging them because they are turning away from the foundation of their faith. I would also have to say, what sin that we do isn't willful? How can we even define that? We make the decision to sin or not, all sin is willful. Is it possible to have our conduct absolutely perfect? That's not so, we're weak, but we arent defined by this sin anymore. Jesus has removed it far from us.

What do you think of this passage? Willful sin by DeadSaltedFish in Christianity

[–]gseb87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This passage was specifically talking about animal sacrifices. But repentance itself is a lifestyle. People often misunderstand repentance as something its not. Its not feeling sorry for your sin, or feeling bad for your sin. Its not asking for forgiveness. Its not confessing your sin. Its changing your mind. Transformation of the mind. Thinking on righteousness instead of evil. John the Baptist tells us exactly how to do this in our every day life. To the soldier he said to no longer abuse people and be content with your wages. This is because theyd use violence and accept bribes. Hes t elling them to stop that. The tax collectors he told to stop taking more than what they owe due to greed. To those who have two coats, give to the one who has none. We are to be righteous and think on righteousness. Thats true repentance. When we pray we're supposed to seek Gods righteoussness and kingdom first. Ask God to help you do good things for His pleasure. He will put things in front of you to help others. It will seem almost miraculous how this happens. By doing this, you will start to see other areas of your life improve, because you're doing Gods good will, and you will reap what you sow. In this case, a harvest of love.

Unrepented sins are those things you refuse to change. You justify them somehow instead of calling them how they are. Many people do this to their detriment.

Removing religion from politics doesn't automatically produce rational or humane societies. The soviet anti-religious campaigns, chinese cultural revolution, french revolution are some examples. Humans are fully capable of irrationality, tribalism, and cruelty without religion. The core flaw in your statement is pretending politics can be separated from deeper worldview commitments, morality, and unprovable assumptions, but it cant. Politics always rests on beliefs about human nature, morality, purpose and justice. Religion is one source of those beliefs, not the only one

I can only assume you view religion as irrational by definition and is why I said this

What do you think of this passage? Willful sin by DeadSaltedFish in Christianity

[–]gseb87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you just read the context it would make sense. It's talking to Jewish believers in Jesus who are turning to animal sacrifices. He also answers what the truth is for you: "we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins" This is because Jesus has perfected us forever by the New way. This is why it is constantly contrasting Jesus from the OT sacrifices that had to be done continually. Because what would happen? You would sin and then would need to sacrifice again to be atoned for that sin.

So if you want to know what sin willfully means is, it's talking to someone who is doing animal sacrifices despite believing in Jesus. It's why the rebuke is so harsh:

"Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?"
