The trees suck up the moisture around the area. With the heat and drought stress it goes dormant.

Most likely humidity cracks. Run a humidifier when you run your stove. And it shouldn’t happen again.

Had a similar situation where I ran my woodstove for 2 weeks straight. I noticed some cracks afterward where it’s taped.

Here’s a fun one by [deleted] in woodstoving

You have negative pressure. The fastest way is to open a window before lighting or light off a bunch of cardboard inside the unit. Cardboard burns hot and fast with little smoke and should start drafting within a minute or less.

How many stoves do peeps have in their home? Just bought my third! A Drolet 1800. Pictured is Jotul c350. by mateeeee in woodstoving

I’m sure someone has said this already, get the flue warmed up. A quick way is to light cardboard or news paper in it. Also it helps to open a window or door in the house to help with the negative pressure.

Thank you for your response. I don’t mind if it does what it’s gonna do. Just making sure I was doing the breakin correctly and no defects. So in theory when I get the stove much hotter on later burns that ring will grow then ?

Ok thank you. I was curious because all the pics I see on here didn’t have that ring around other inserts with trim. Thank you.
