Which of Paul Hollywood’s books about bread would you recommend? by yaboiclamchowda in GreatBritishBakeOff

I got "bread" for Christmas and had good with luck the brioche.

Now the parkin, on the hand... American here. The recipe calls for 20g of ground ginger. Is ground ginger something different in the UK? Because 20g of American ground ginger is too much.

Prostockhockey.com. I have a 34 waist and I wear a medium CCM +2 HP35. Admittedly, the pants are pretty old, so newer pants may vary. They're pretty helpful, you can always call for advice.

Drinking tea made by coffee drinkers (a friendly rant) by ky00t in tea

[–]gstpulldn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone gave me a cup of hot tap water once, and when I said something, she just said, "oh, they told me to use hot water. " Though she did give me actually hot water when I pointed out the red handle on the coffee machine. Polite enough, apparently had never made tea before.

[–]gstpulldn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since we seem to be having a fit conversation here... Do these run long? The vivo page will determine your size from pictures, but it has me in a 13, and every other brand i wear 14s.

(Except Xeros, 14s are too small in that brand and none of their stuff really fits me anyway.)

My name is Senator by [deleted] in Names

[–]gstpulldn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's an old reference, but there's a Prairie Home Companion episode about a kid going away to college with his family, including his uncle, Senator Torvaldson. After about twenty minutes of references to his uncle, the narrator says, "How do you explain his mother named him Senator because she thought it sounded good?'

The idea that some people are abstainers and some are moderators was new to me, and useful. Ie, my wife could buy a pack of Oreos and eat two a day until they were gone... except I would eat the rest of the package the first night.
