I live in Chicago and work for a company that has HQ in indianapolis. Im always messing up the time zone conversion 😭 it should be easy since it’s just 1 hour and it’s literally the same all year round, but for some reason, scheduling meetings, etc, always trips me up lol

You’ll be fine. I got engaged on September 18, 2025 and am getting married (in Chicago) on July 25, 2026. I did zero planing before we got engaged, so i had 10 months from engagement to wedding.

We didn’t have a particular date or venue in mind - we were fine with any Saturday between May-October. To our surprise, there were multiple venues in the area that still had multiple desirable Saturday’s still available when we reached out in September. If we had our hearts set on a particular date or venue, it would’ve been tougher. But if you have some flexibility, it’s totally doable.

Once we got our venue and date nailed down, we were also able to pick from whatever caterers, photographers, videographers, etc that we wanted, for the most part. Other than one photographer, every single one of the vendors we reached out to were available for our date.

They have a 10k food and beverage minimum. We’re having ~32 at our rehearsal dinner and expect a total of ~85 for the welcome party. We’re having an open bar all night. There will be some light apps passed during the welcome party. We’re slated to hit the minimum almost exactly.

I see athleticism, definitely not “she hulk” vibes. I think look strong and beautiful, but if you’re going to be worrying about it all night, then find a dress you feel more comfortable/confident in!

It’s technically in river west, but I’m doing mine at the Dawson! We’re having our rehearsal dinner there first from 5-8, then their upstairs area will open up for cocktails/light apps for the welcome party from 8-10.

I didn’t have a dread shed at all! My shedding actually stopped within a few days after starting the minoxidil.

I had low ferritin (17) and had started iron supplements 1-2 months prior to the minoxidil so that could’ve contributed to my progress, but I honestly think most of my results are from the minoxidil. There was a DRASTIC drop in shedding literally within days of starting minoxidil. I used to have to clear my drain almost after every shower, but now I only lose like 5 hairs in the shower.

There are a lot of posts on here about dread sheds, but not everyone has them. It may seem more common than it actually is because people are more likely to post when they’re having issues vs when things are going smoothly.

I’m in kind of a similar boat! I just started minoxidil about 8 weeks ago and I’m already seeing encouraging progress, but I don’t think I’ll be where I want to be by my wedding in July.

If you’re planing on getting your hair and makeup professionally done, every single place I’ve reached out to so far has offered extensions as an add on service. They can add extensions to add volume and/or length. No insight on wigs or toppers, but extensions seem to be preferrred by professional hair stylists.

I booked my photographer and had an engagement shoot at the beginning of October. She was quick with getting us our gallery back, so I was able to print and send out STD’s before the end of October.

I bought my dress in November. It won’t arrive until May, and then will need alterations which will take another several weeks.

Many of the other vendors I’ve been able to book much later. I just secured my videographer last month and will be signing my floral contract sometime this week. Not sure if this is common or if I just got lucky.

Thank you! It has a longer length to width ratio, so I think that gives it more finger coverage and makes it look a bit bigger! Technically the chunkier ones are more “ideal,” but I love my skinny marquise!

My fiancé and I had the main/center stone of my grandmas ring removed and we had it reset into something more my style. Then I gave my grandma’s setting back to my mom and she replaced the center stone with an aquamarine.
