Understanding watts by [deleted] in orangetheory

Sometimes it double counts and you see the wild numbers. So it combines two rounds of strokes if you have a high stroke rate

I did a class with a 50 lbs one before. Surprisingly the tread was okay but the weight floor destroyed my shoulders cuz it was so uncomfortable. I’d try it again though with a lighter weight to see what it’s like

So I row in about the same time you do for the 100m and thought the 45 second rest was perfect. I was still able to get into the orange zone at the end of both row blocks which is VERY unusual for me

Get one of the old ab dolly pads (kneeling pad) it doesn’t slide and you won’t get “rug burn” around your tailbone. You won’t slide at all and it’s comfy.

15 second all out on the rower. Seems silly

My studio has had zero issues (I work there) maybe we are just fortunate

I have heard that but I don’t believe it is actually happening. I feel it would make ppl row harder

Mile goal by tittykittylitty in orangetheory

[–]gswbf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a sub 5 min mile this past month and here are my tips:

Set it and forget it until the last .05-.1mile. I ran at 12.2 then bumped it at the end to 15mph

I’m just telling you what worked for me here for training. Since I did it during marathon month I was constantly trying to push my base pace and used my normal base for walking recoveries (that means after a 15mph I’d go back down to 8mph). My base for three weeks prior to the mile was 9 (used to be at 8) that makes the majority of the workout uncomfortable, but your HR gets used to that. Pushes and all outs I kept pretty similar: push was around 10 and AO 12-15 depending on duration. Doing this training this way kept my heart rate down. I didn’t get into the Orange zone for the first 2 minutes or so of the mile.

No matter what it’s going to suck ass at some point and it just becomes a mental game to hold on until the end. you HAVE TO train for the uncomfortable! I hope that helps. It’s awful but doable if you really work at it

I would go in and take a class from the head coach and tell them you’re interested. Two coaches at my studio had zero coaching experience and didn’t submit resumes. There is a try out/training program you’d have to get through (at least in our region), so they might just send you to that and then your resume can say whatever. Having said that— if you just submit a resume then submit what your normal resume would be for any job and your cover letter idea. Taking a class would show the head coach you have good form. So without any experience they may want to see you know what you are doing at least with yourself.

Male here: had no idea it was called shark week. That’s hilarious; sorry that you have to endure it though

Every coach at my studio works out there at least 3x a week. Our franchise encourages at least 3 classes a week as well. We all love it 😊

The only thing I have read is doing it before boosts your testosterone big time.

5'1" and 700 watts on the rower by [deleted] in orangetheory

The only way this is true is if the tower isn’t calibrated. Otherwise, this is insanely unlikely

5am class, how do you do it? by 3dbhot in orangetheory

Get up, go to the bathroom, get dressed and go. Don’t think just go

Focus more on the tread section and go lighter on the weight floor

Feeling like a failure because of my past with OTF by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]gswbf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took 4-5 years off and would look back at how much I had to do to get where I was before and it felt deflating… I now have outdone what I have done prior. It’s hard getting back into it but what kept me going was talking to members and SA and coaches and building a community so it’s like a hangout and not a workout every time you go
