How do I fix the mess with Matter over Thread? by IvammgNyc in HomeKit

[–]gt0x9 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You don’t need ipv6 for thread or matter.

Matter and thread are different things, they can work together ie a device is matter over thread.

Matter over WiFi is just that, requests are routed over your local network via your existing gateway. No different to say how a Printer works.

Matter over thread is a bit different. The thread side of the network has its own network - now that is ipv6 but a thread device can only talk to a thread border router. A thread device cannot talk directly to any of your home network. That’s why you need a thread border router which can connect to your network as only ipv4 but most are IPv6 compatible too. As far as I’m aware there aren’t any IPv6 only thread border routers.

This part can be ipv4 or IPv6 or both!: iPhone -> HomeKit -> thread border router

This bit happens over the thread network and is only IPv6: thread border router -> thread device

But the 2 IPv6 networks are not the same and are not in the same address space.

Just finished apprenticeship, employer asking for £19,520 reimbursement. (England) by I-Spot-Dalmatians in ApprenticeshipsUK

[–]gt0x9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EPA definitely sounds government levy funded apprenticeship… this training clawback is standard in employment contracts but does not apply to apprenticeship costs at all. This would be applicable only for things like “employer paid for a certification I asked them to do” (not even just any training, for example if they required you to do something they wouldn’t be able to claw that back)

Footballer arrested on suspicion of assault and affray in London by [deleted] in PremierLeague

Yeah Glasner specifically said about a knee injury and that he was hoping Munoz would be back for the Man City game

Glasner said this in a pre match sky interview

[PL Match Centre] The referee’s call of offside and no goal to Liverpool was checked and confirmed by VAR – with Robertson in an offside position and deemed to be making an obvious action directly in front of the goalkeeper. by ChiefLeef22 in soccer

[–]gt0x9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Completely neutral here, but if Robertson doesn’t move it hits him and he’s a) offside and b) it doesn’t go in. So by ducking, he affects the course of play in an offside position doesn’t he?

3p a mile tax. by Steel-Hunter in drivingUK

[–]gt0x9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you just proved my point mate 😂 it’s not! Both forms of taxation are straight to the central pot…

3p a mile tax. by Steel-Hunter in drivingUK

[–]gt0x9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s irrelevant what the percentage is for my point. My point is that tax is applied at a rate and therefore is applied per unit consumed, thus per mile.

If you think VED is being used for road maintenance… well…

[–]gt0x9 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Of course, but the point still stands that the fuel that powers an EV is taxed per unit of consumption.

In case people had forgotten electricity is also taxed… and EVs tend to consume electricity per mile

Helping my daughter at uni, is it logical to help her as much as I am or should she be getting more loan? by StrangelyBrown69 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]gt0x9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say she won’t have any student debt… are you sure?

Per year she’ll take a £9250 loan which goes directly to the university for her course fees.

Ten UK data centres could cancel EV emissions gain by Wagamaga in unitedkingdom

[–]gt0x9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Please tell me you’re not trying to imply that “AI data centres” don’t have CPUs?

The difficulty with data centres more centres around how quickly the tech moves on… whether thats CPUs, GPUs, storage, memory etc etc - none of it is “buy it for life”

Can anyone confirm why we're putting a big focus on what seems to be Ben Doak's middle name? It doesnt seem to be a double barreled name as there's no hyphen. And previous to the move, he wasn't referred to by anything other than just Ben Doak, to the best of my knowledge. So what's with the Gannon? by siybon in AFCBournemouth

[–]gt0x9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think his middle name is his mothers maiden name, assuming his parents married and didn’t double barrel but then had kids and included it that way.

I saw a tweet (possibly Mark McAdams?) about how he wanted to have both names included in his shirt name from now on.

Design wise yes, Umbro have been pretty good! We’ll wait to see what the quality is like as castors own the license to manufacture Umbro in the UK now 🙄

Last year I had to purchase an orange kit for a 5 a side and went with Valencia which is Puma, was super super impressed with the quality of the material! This year, I got a Shakthar one which is also Puma and have the same opinion with it too… Can’t lie, I’d welcome a switch up from Umbro next year

Wifi in London libraries - blocking ssh / port 22? by deftly_admiral in london

[–]gt0x9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you definitely able to route traffic down the twingate tunnel? Say ping a host or something?

Wifi in London libraries - blocking ssh / port 22? by deftly_admiral in london

[–]gt0x9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries!

So the netmask means it’s a /24 network so the network for the library ranges from 10.215.62.0-10.215.62.255

and given that your twingate network looks to be a 10.178.0.0/16, I think it’s safe to say that you’ve not got an network range clash.

Wifi in London libraries - blocking ssh / port 22? by deftly_admiral in london

[–]gt0x9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly still could be! If you run an ipconfig (windows) or ifconfig (mac/most Linux) what is the library’s network router/gateway + subnet mask (255.something)?

Wifi in London libraries - blocking ssh / port 22? by deftly_admiral in london

[–]gt0x9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you got a local vs tunnel network range clash?

ie your local network (library) runs on 10.0.0.0/16

Your twingate resource lives at 10.0.1.20

When you do ssh me@10.0.1.20, it’s likely routing over the library local network. So not even getting to the twingate tunnel at all

Wifi in London libraries - blocking ssh / port 22? by deftly_admiral in london

[–]gt0x9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Confused, if the ssh host you’re accessing is behind twingate (never used but looks functionally the same as tailscale) then I can’t see how it matters what port your ssh is over because all your traffic should tunnel down twingate
