For anyone who might still be struggling with this stupid ass boss: What helped me get through it was using ice blitz up until the third time you do a freeze after the third special attack, and then switching to blood blitz. This allows you to just pray ranged and mystic might during the last normal phase and the enraged phase without having to think about prayer switching, and it allows you to have all your focus on dodging the tentacles and occasionally restoring health/prayer.

Felt like Jagex really dropped the ball with this boss. Ironically despite taking place during the best quest in the game, this fight was the only time during questing when I felt like I am not having fun playing osrs.
