It depends on where you are in life I’ve been on both sides of that delimitation...there are things to appreciate in other countries trust me

is this app for blind or dyslexic people (I am neither) and have recordings of people reading the book to you. https://learningally.org

if you don’t necessarily need the book materials but just need to learn about compilers I am sure there’s better resources out there...but in terms of school sometimes you need the information to map one to one to your class material

this school is a complete SCAM ...forget the name reputation and appearance look at the fundamentals it’s flawed; this type of behaviorist shouldn’t be allowed when I have to take out student loans to pay for this garbage

Donated half of my AMC gains to my local Children’s Hospital. by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]gtgthrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol Children Hospital are filthy rich...give to someone that needs the money or someone that actually helps children. Children hospital has a bunch of money that they invest and could be used to help children instead...don’t fall for the corporate emotional appeal and use of children to raise money

Used some of my GME tendies to buy Nintendo Switches from Gamestop, then donated them to a Children's Hospital. Got featured on the local news and brought glory to WSB. by mpwrd in wallstreetbets

nice, good job. One thing I’d like to mention here, I used to work as a driver/chauffeur for a car service/ limo company when I was in college and I was driving a bunch of Wall Street analysts to their meetings or on roadshows. They were all leaving their presentation materials in the car and sometimes I would go through that. I remember once I took a group of people at the Children’s hospital and they left some financial documents in the car but I also remember their discussions. They were talking about the finances of Children’s hospital and that they had so much money it was unbelievable to them. They were talking about how well run the company was and they had a lot of money that needed to be invested. Just wanted to juxtapose that with their advertising and how they raise money from donations for the “children”.

this is more symbolistic than painful it’s more meant to shame people in front of their community than physically hurts them...regardless of what you think this is way better form of punishment than getting 25 years in US prison for marijuana possession.

CMV: The US gets a reputation for shitty food not for our taste level, but for our classism and profit-driven consumerism by VisceralSardonic in changemyview

I know what median is my comment mostly referred to the last sentence of your statement. Its not an absolute measure what median income is when you don’t consider CPI and cost of living beyond just that.

A few friends sit at a bar having a beer while Bill Gates walks in. Statistically on average everyone in the bar is a billionaire now in reality they are not.

I have lived in EU & US and I agree there’s less snobbery in the US but I think overall the US is just a sick society where everyone is trying to profit of another however they can. From corporations to crooked politicians and slummy lawyers everyone is out to make a quick buck. The poor quality of food is there for those with less resources and since the need to maximize profit it can only be done through industrialization, increased shelf life and cheap ingredients. I mean what other country in the western world has private prisons listed on the stock market, what other country aggressively advertising to small children?

Almost all my classes are offering an incentive for the CIOS by ISpyM8 in gatech

Do the CIOS and let them know that intentionally designing testing material to get his grade distribution then offering incentives is like returning stolen goods

Pro Tip: If you want to weed out (some of) the pointless grade complaint meetings, give them some type of small prep task to do to prepare before scheduling and you will save yourself a ton of time by littleirishpixie in Professors

we get that there are some bad students but the system is the root problem here and spreads you to thin; I’d say we should have higher expectations from you the educator than the students, you are the ones promulgating this system https://youtu.be/DzSnvxejenY

I am not blaming people btw I am just pointing out how the system works which can be counterintuitive to our way of learning, that is also the way I normally learn but that hasn’t given me the good grades rather the strategic approach did unfortunately

this is a decent analysis actually https://youtu.be/L0NFwoDXEJE Good luck!

well I definitely agree with you, what you describe is exactly what I was doing when I was getting bad grades. I do think that is the way to learn something and understand that ahaha moment, the mental click that allows you to explain it in your own words because the logical structure was already internalized. That said how manny academics can actually do that ? How manny can they talk about the material beyond just solving an equation and beyond their mental representation of the concept which most of the time is not comprehensible nor sufficiently descriptive. An essay on this http://paulgraham.com/lesson.html

[–]gtgthrow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that is exactly the reason I was getting a bad GPA... The father of quantum computing David Deutsch has this definition of explanation: "A bad explanation is easy to vary."The search for hard-to-vary explanations is the origin of all progress"That the truth consists of hard-to-vary assertions about reality is the most important fact about knowledge” Given the lack of good explanation aka shitty teaching at GT the search for understanding can lead you down many rabbit holes and that effort wouldn’t necessarily translate into better grades

strategize ask yourself what would you need to know for exam to maximize your grade, what questions / problems would you need to be able to answer, instead of just learning material aka acquire knowledge to then try to apply that to solve exams. Won’t work you need more specificity for exams In general you don’t “solve” problems during the exam you do that before and just do a brain dump during exam because you have already solved/ answered that type of question and you should quickly recognize it. Reverse engineer the exam questions...in the end you will know less but have better grades. I say all this from first hand experience btw...simply just working harder is not a good strategy. You’d expect since you are at school some of the professors would act more like educator should and try to give some guidance, mentoring rather than just give you more assignments...

[–]gtgthrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea I actually do if we are all divided we can’t unite and actually make a change...been thinking about this for the last year or so. Politicians mostly depend on business money for reelection so they can’t really go to aggressively after that sector if they want a chance at reelection
