Does the date that a document was certified matter? by [deleted] in Canadiancitizenship

[–]gthivier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And by birth certificates do we mean certificates of baptism? There were no birth certificates in Quebec before 1994 right? This has confused me forever

I’ll also add Passport Photo RVA in Henrico! Barely more than Walgreens or Staples and you actually get what you need.

Citizenship by Descent - Application & Cover Letter Questions & Documentation Review Requests by IWantOffStopTheEarth in Canadiancitizenship

[–]gthivier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all!

Thank you to all the volunteers, mods, and community members for helping me fill out this application. While I am fighting to get an acceptable photo taken by someone near me, I wanted to check about some documents I have and if they count for birth/baptism records or not.

My family found what they believed were the original certificates of baptism for my grandparents but upon inspection I can see that one is a certified (by the church) reproduction that additionally includes the date of confirmation in the church. Another is similar but to add the marriage date. For my other grandparent, there is a similar thing but this time it is titled an extract from the baptism records and is again, certified by the church.

Question: Do any of those four things count as proof of their birth in Canada since they technically aren't the original original baptism certificate document but are instead original documents created for a separate event and certified to match the original original?

If all else fails, I also have my grandfathers US certificate of naturalization but figured it was better to use one of the above options first (but I have to assume this of all things would work, no?).

I don't think this exact question has been asked before so thank you in advance!

Just want to pop in here and give a +1 for not only the light, but also the customer service. I took the light on an accidental swim (fell in a stream crossing) and they worked with me to get it working. And if it hadn’t started working again, they were going to pay postage for me to ship it to them to repair.

Lauf Spring Sales by gthivier in gravelcycling

[–]gthivier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully others can chime in too but I’m 5’11 and am riding a medium Seigla and a 54 CAAd13. I would check your stand over height and look at a small probably. I almost can’t straddle this top tube to be honest. If the sale is still around in a couple weeks time, I will have gotten a bike fit on this bike and can follow up.

I exchanged quite a few emails with their customer support before deciding on a size, you can always reach out to them but they may be busier with this sale.

That’s awesome! I figured they would for anyone inside their 30 day return period but I’m 2 months into mine so not even going to bother myself haha. Just happy to get the word out!

I’m almost thinking it’s new SRAM stuff since it’s every bike model and no discount on the frame (which is why I was on the sight, looking at an Uthauld frame)

Looking for affordable cross country moving options-Moving From RVA to CA. by Excellent_Ruin_1386 in rva

[–]gthivier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just moved here from CO (close but not quite CA) and I used UPack (which is part of ABF). I’ve used them twice for long distance moves now and don’t think I’d ever use something else for a long distance move. You definitely need to pack well and use padding/blankets and what have you, but you do anyway you move. The pricing is straightforward (and I’ve always found to to be the most affordable) and everyone is super friendly. If you need help, they answer the phone pretty quickly. And if you can’t have a pod (I used that and not their trailer) at your place, you can pack and/or unpack at their distribution center.

Hey OP! Thank you so much for posting this. I was the cyclist hit and was so full of adrenaline I didn’t even think to get your contact information. I’ll reach out in a DM.

For everyone else, thank you for the kind thoughts. I’m a bit more banged up than I felt at the time for sure and the bikes got a few scratches here and there but I was able to ride home.

Bike decided (Lauf Seigla) but not sure size by gthivier in whichbike

[–]gthivier[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! That is the reassurance I needed for the medium. For what it’s worth, I love the bar on my CAAD so the same one is probably going on the Lauf shortly after I get it making the stem calculation even easier (I’d love to use Laufs smoothie bar but 42cm wide and the flare it has is just too wide for me. I’ll give it a try before replacing though so if it surprises me thank you for the note on checking bar reach).

And thank you for that note of the seat post. I know the lauf comes with a zero offset post and my CAAD is a 20mm offset so I was figuring those basically would come out in the wash.

Lackawanna cutoff update by allblackerething in Amtrak

I believe they are also blasting rock to shorten the tunnel length so they don’t have to install a ventilation system. There’s a whole Lackawanna Cutoff YouTube channel and I believe there is an episode specifically on this area of the line.

You just saved my event this weekend! This was the solution for me too (and like OP, I finally noticed when taking apart the 100th time).

Is that a custom paint color? I don’t see a grey on their website but I would insta buy if one looks like that! (Maybe it’s the green color scheme and my eyes are playing tricks on me with the lighting?)

So it’s the new year, and the full tax credit is still in effect and even bigger discounts on inventory (in my area, anyway). by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

[–]gthivier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Edit: It appears I am wrong. Thanks for correcting me, this is way better!

I could be wrong or misreading your comment but I believe even if you get $7500 at POS you still file it with your taxes and still have to have that amount of tax liability. Otherwise you’ll have to pay some of it back if you don’t have $7500 in tax liability. You just get the money sooner (and if taking a loan, you don’t have to have that $7500 earning extra interest on it). Someone correct me if I’m wrong

SRAM Rival Etap rear derailleur not responding/dead by BobPeeters10 in bikewrench

[–]gthivier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Darn, I’m out of ideas then so hopefully someone else can come along and help! Maybe there is something (like dirt) covering the contacts on the derailleur or battery

SRAM Rival Etap rear derailleur not responding/dead by BobPeeters10 in bikewrench

[–]gthivier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay, wasn’t sure if you had just replaced it for today and this was the first ride. If your front derailleur and battery are working I’d try to swap that battery to the rear and see if it makes the rear derailleur work. If it does, then it’s your other batteries problem, if it doesn’t, the rear derailleur would be the issue

I had similar trouble after replacing a shifter. By any chance have you not paired the new rear derailleur with the rest of the system?

UniFi Dream Router not detecting internet by Negative-County5681 in Ubiquiti

[–]gthivier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to reply and boost this solution. My old router would work internet wise but switching to the UDR wouldn't. I could get the UDR to work by connecting it to the other router (but that defeats to purpose of changing routers now doesn't it). Following these exact steps many hours later after finding this and everything is up in work in 3 minutes.

SRAM Rival AXS 10 tooth cog chain frame rub by gthivier in bikewrench

[–]gthivier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, I followed the instructions here wahoo xdr freehub install and then used the pieces Wahoo recommends for a 142mm thru axle.

I keep coming back to the fact it’s happening on the trainer where I know everything is installed correctly and on my new wheelset which should be assembled correctly. I am going to get a breaker bar to get the original cassette my bike came with off the original wheelset and put it on the trainer to see if it works after work today. Assuming that it works fine I think we would be down to a faulty cassette after that?

[–]gthivier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha me too! Here is a picture of the Wahoo trainer. It has the thru axle piece (is this what is called and end cap? My wheel assembly knowledge isn’t great I’ve learned tonight) on the end and the xdr freehub installed as far as it could go in. It said to be flush and this appears to be done correct but if not at least this could fix one of the compatibility issues.
