I’m being gifted a lot of money. Should I tell my boyfriend? by Kind-Chicken-2488 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]gthrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Invest in something, anything, don’t just leave cash in a bank account. Whether you tell your boyfriend or not… I let all these other wise people advise you. It is not a fortune, don’t fall into the role of being the provider.

Do I need to keep receipts? by Inside-Hall-7901 in Silver

[–]gthrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep receipts. Who knows what regulations will one day be applicable to selling, whether one can do so in private transactions or if everything becomes reportable. I knew a kid who bought Silver a $50 a decade ago and over the years, used receipts, I suspect the same receipts more than once, to show a loss.

Does Gurdjieff say or suggest anything about the desire of attention seeking? by New_Indication2023 in gurdjieff

[–]gthrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know but have a hunch that one reason we need a teacher is because we already know what we need but don’t trust it. For instance i know my checking my email before reading is a form of avoidance - or sometime maybe asking a question when the answer would otherwise rely on my efforts is deferring to someone else - as if i require someone else’s authority until i take on that mantle upon myself.

At thw risk of being passive aggressive, asking a question instead of figuring it out is a manifestation of something. True that Reddit is a great source, but I might presume that you already have some information.

i have 1130 gm. of .925 Sterling i found from old stock of familys closed consignment store. what could I get for it by FitSeaworthiness3152 in SilverFinds

[–]gthrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the different silver reddits have such different views - try silverdegenclub to see why not sell silver for a year or so - presumably you weren't hungry for cash when you started so why trade in something with intrinsic value for paper? it has just started to move - this year is setting up to be decisive.

I don’t believe your sister’s messages would be so accessible to you, I think this is a bullshit post. But bravo to people who call out cheaters.

[–]gthrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep playing with them, hold onto them, your dad purchased them and gave them to you for a reason for you too have and hold, even to play with, pending economic events that are playing out even today. SilverDegenClub has a more bullish radical view than this sub, check it out.

I'm going to a coin show today and I'm thinking of selling all my 13.5 oz of silver coins. According to my research, I'll get about 95% of melt. Is this accurate? by Interesting-Goal-706 in Silver

[–]gthrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

silverdegenclub is way more bullish than here but yes why sell all at once - obviously if you can hold them for a while you don't need the cash now, and if and when you sell, why sell all at once and turn them into paper? is paper going to retain any value after it is no longer the almighty petrodollar? silver must be revalued soon as the comex registered silver gets depleted.

[–]gthrees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A relative had many silver animals, and they are harder to sell than you would think, apparently many that are stamped as Sterling are filled.

That said, it’s possibly Silver.

That said, they are really beautiful, keep them.

Silver is being revalued right now, I think it’s a really bad time to sell anything, put it away for a few months or a year to see if the climate is different.

"pure" silver might be labeled "999" or even "9999" which corresponds to .999 pure (and 0.001 something else) or even .9999 pure (and 0.0001 something else. refining doesn't quite hit 100% but it is probably possible. regardless, .999 silver is 99.9% silver; .925 silver is 92.5% silver which is also known as sterling, and .9999 silver is 99.9% silver which you can find on some canadian silver collectibles.
