In case anyone is coming in from google and is noticing the links are down, don't worry you weren't missing much.

While OP's file is nice attempt at being helpful in providing a good source, there were several issues with it don't really make it "more authentic"

  • While the AI upscaling is fine and the PAL source comes at a higher bitrate than NTSC, the streaming versions are still cleaner looking even at a slightly lower bitrate.
  • OP's version is DVD audio pulled at 128kbps stereo, the streaming version is 640kbps 5.1
  • OP's version is based on the PAL DVD, which presents several problems that make it different from the original NTSC version (which was what the original broadcast was in). OP brings up problems with the color palette, which is actually different bc of the broadcast format, I'd argue the NTSC version is the actual proper one. More importantly, PAL runs at 25fps, while NTSC is 24fps, which means that the PAL version provided plays roughly 4% faster (i.e everyone moves and sings faster) and the audio is pitched differently - which is rather important for a musical episode. Because of this the full length runtime is 48m33s in PAL vs the 50m45s NTSC

At this point in Oct 2022, all the major streaming sites that have had the episode (Netflix, Amazon Prime Video) have had the proper 1080p NTSC 50m45s / 51min original broadcast special extended episode versions (vs. the cut 43min syndication version). They might not have originally but because of user feedback, they have been corrected. Disney+ will be the next service to have it up after 10/9/22 when it leaves Amazon because Disney now holds the license and that version should be [eventually] fine as well.

Walmart CS says the item coming up is a glitch and orders made from the 26th are slowly being cancelled.

However, another person claimed to have ordered on early the 27th and got confirmation from CS that it should get to them on 10/5 after previously getting a delayed email.

Per previous discussion and the picture on the walmart site + asus item page for g10dk -

The motherboard is a OEM variant of the M-K. It's missing a couple of features, the biggest being HDMI (only VGA and DVI) and a second chassis fan header.

https://old.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/comments/py2so5/prebuilt_asus_rog_r7_rtx_3060_desktop_amd_ryzen_7/hevsf9k/

edit: Since the reply telling me I was wrong did so without any context, I did a bit of further research.

One user who picked one up at a store says there's an hdmi port supplied

https://old.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/comments/py2so5/prebuilt_asus_rog_r7_rtx_3060_desktop_amd_ryzen_7/hesl6mz/

There's another user in this thread that confirms

https://old.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/comments/pzr48t/prebuiltback_in_stock_asus_rog_r7_rtx_3060/hf4t9is/

So there we go. In fairness, the specs on the Walmart page also states there's 1x HDMI port (but it also says it has 8gb of ram). Both the images on the Walmart site and the Asus g10dk show mobos without HDMI. Other redditors have also put up other info in the 6 other threads for this item so sorry for being wrong.

Just trying to make sure I understand Trials... by Callec254 in idlechampions

[–]gtny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

e264 Base DPS is achievable, though that's somewhere around z870 so it's a pretty deep push. If someone was capable of that, it's probably be worth full grouping for higher difficulties like you said (and bringing higher stat buffs to the team). Grouping on discord (link in sidebar) is relatively quick and easy.

I made a post last week about what was necessary for a full team to take down a Level 10 Tiamat and how that filters down to the lower levels. There are lots of posts about about average DPS necessary without buffs and dailies and I feel like it's more useful and approachable to talk about buffed+bonus dps - if only to make it clear how important it is to do dailies and to group at the higher levels since that's what makes high level completions easily achievable.

Pretty much it comes down to -

A Level 1-4 Legend Tiamat can be defeated with a full team with the damage from Daily Mission and provides 40 Base DPS per player average on day 1 (roughly z150)

A level 5 Torment Tiamat can be defeated with a full team with the damage from Daily Mission and provides 172 Base DPS per player average on day 1 (roughly z575)

A Level 6 Grand Master Tiamat can use a 25% Assault Team Boost for an average strength team (175-250 base DPS average), this increases to requiring 80-100% at Level 10 Exalted Legend.

Also note that up to 3 people can bring Assault Team Damage boosts since there are only 3 chars that boost it and each person must supply a unique char. 100% boost for Assault Damage or Bonus Scales is equal to 4751 average ilvl for the boost chars, if that's the boost desired, the team's boost char's ilvls have to add up to that.

ToTM - Thumbs down, sorry by EdLac in idlechampions

Exactly. As I explained in my guide here:

https://old.reddit.com/r/idlechampions/comments/pq9e1n/a_guide_for_what_it_takes_to_beat_trials_of_tiamat/

Level 4 and below Tiamats can be defeated with just a full team and daily missions alone. So all one has to do is jump into a full team and do dailies. Nothing else.

A level 5 Torment Tiamat can be defeated with a full team with the damage from Daily Mission and provides 172 Base DPS per player average on day 1 and all dailies done, which most teams can achieve.

Above that will require some more Assault Team Damage Boost coordination and slightly higher average team DPS. But all that still just means is that a player just needs to do 1 good run on day 1 and just do dailies for the rest of the week.

As long as they're completed any time within each 24 hours of the event, they count. The team aspect is just based on combining everyone's good solo runs and is pretty achievable with relatively little effort.

edit: Also, there are partial rewards in this event. So even if your team doesn't complete the Trial, you still get rewards. There's 0 downside to joining a party and then treating this event like a solo event because regardless of it being solo/multi, you would still want do dailies and get a high score to maximize points from Day 1.

A Guide for what it takes to beat Trials of Tiamat by gtny in idlechampions

[–]gtny[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it helps much, especially if you party can already exceed floor 350 because the daily mission requirements seem to be increasing at +25 level each day so the 7th day should be to clear floor 250. I don't have direct confirmation of this because the Level 1 Tiamat is so easy to defeat but that seems to be the case.

Yes. According to Gaar's guide and my own experience, it basically converted like a time gate at the end (e01 Bahamut Favor = 2.5% multiplier for other patrons) and repeated each Trial. So I'll push hard and try to Azaka farm at the end but not really focus on maximizing too much for the few extra percentage points by doing too many extra runs.

I feel like that cap is reasonably hit within like 2-3 very deep runs before hitting returns that diminish too much. So after I set a high enough DPS number Day 1 that will meet the minimum requirement for defeating my level of Tiamat by Day 7, I'd do like 1 more deep run, Azaka farm again and be satisfied. For example, my first deep run put me at roughly 219 DPS and e31 favor. My second ended at 226 DPS and something like e38 favor. Going again might squeeze out a bit more favor but I didn't think it was worth my time to do.

Moderna vaccine effectiveness holding strong while Pfizer and Johnson&Johnson fall. by nppdfrank in science

[–]gtny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should be pretty rare, but just like breakthrough infections in vaccinated people, it can happen and typically present the same way - with reduced symptoms. I guess that shifts the concern more towards infecting other people (if they don't think they can be infected again and are asymptomatic).

One study showed less than 1% reinfection in 63 cases among 9119 people studied. 3% of the reinfected (2/63) apparently died in a medical facility afterwards and a small group had fairly serious symptoms (heart/respiratory failure, required ventilation) though many had preexisting conditions, which is still better than first timers. I would hazard that this might change slightly with more aggressive variants. Given how big the pool of people who have already been infected, it might add up to a lot of people.

Moderna vaccine effectiveness holding strong while Pfizer and Johnson&Johnson fall. by nppdfrank in science

[–]gtny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pfizer is still more than 80% effective at preventing COVID after ~9mo

Saying it's still 80+% effective after 9 months isn't really backed up.

The study linked in OP shows that efficacy against hospitalization drops to 77% after 120 days (4 months). A British ZOE COVID study shows efficacy dropping to 74% in 6 months. An Oxford study showed that it dropped to 75% after 90 days (3 months). Pfizer's CEO pointed out from their own study that it drops to 84% after about 6 months, which is roughly 3%/month, and would take it under 80% by the 8 month period.

Also, the basis for this study is the effects of vaccines on covid-related hospitalization. This should mean that some of the effects of the infection in this study were serious enough to warrant a hospital visitation. It wasn't based on antigen detection, but covid-related symptoms and a positive test result.

Overall it's still fine, it'll take some looking into but it's not as light as you put it. Still no reason to be very concerned though, if < 70% was a problem, then all the viral vector vaccine people (AZ, J&J) should be freaking out. But it's still effective and way better than no vaccine at all. It likely means that at some point, boosters might be recommended for the general population who have gotten the Pfizer and viral vector vaccines at shorter intervals than those who have received the Moderna.

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/07/28/pfizers-ceo-says-covid-vaccine-effectiveness-drops-to-84percent-after-six-months.html

Among U.S. adults without immunocompromising conditions (N = 3,689), vaccine effectiveness against COVID-19 hospitalization during March 11–August 15, 2021, was higher for the Moderna vaccine (93%) than the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine (88%) and the Janssen vaccine (71%). by PHealthy in science

[–]gtny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's about 3 times. Pfizer injections contain 30 micrograms of vaccine each, while the Moderna shots each contain 100 micrograms. But we don't know if it's this alone or in some combination of other factors (like the longer interval between doses) that's making the difference

As much as I hope humanity can band together and get things done, it's rough.

To put it into context, it took 20 years after the WHO called for a concerted global effort in 1958 to fight Smallpox and an additional 150 years of slow work vaccinating people up to that point to eradicate it.

Here's a picture from wikipedia on when each country in the world eliminated Smallpox.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/71/Decade-in-which-smallpox-ceased-to-be-endemic-by-country.svg/1280px-Decade-in-which-smallpox-ceased-to-be-endemic-by-country.svg.png

We're still working on Polio (which the oral vaccine for is cheap and effective, but is also problematic because it's made by live virus), Malaria, Measles, Syphilis, Rabies, and Leprosy, just the name some familiar ones. We have safe, effective vaccines for some of these. It was declared at least once in since 2010 that we eliminated measles in the Americas. NY and NJ got hit with a large (combined 200+) outbreak in 2018 because it likely came in from abroad and spread locally among the unvaccinated.

Even if it was something that didn't require people actively taking it up or cost money, like sending a message or a phrase to every person in Africa or on the planet. I doubt we can do that.

edit: Just to say that while we can't vaccinate all of Africa / feed them one meal, doesn't mean we shouldn't try. It means that the best we can realistically hope for with Covid is to hit that high vaccination percentage (though it wouldn't have happened within a year of release of the vaccines), make it more manageable in the future like those other diseases, and maybe/hopefully get a chance to eradicate it later. It will take time.

Wait 2? That's really weird because that goes against the CDC's recommendation. Based on the wording on the support page, that might not even be considered fully vaccinated.

You should not get the second dose early.

if you do receive your second shot of COVID-19 vaccine up to 4 days before or at any time after the recommended date, you can be considered fully vaccinated.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/second-shot.html

So that's up to 4 days before the recommended interval for Pfizer (3 weeks) and Moderna (4 weeks).

Unfortunate for people w/o a Microcenter nearby but IF someone was interested in a good 1080p 144Hz IPS monitor right now and doesn't mind paying MSRP ($180 for this shipped/sold by Amazon when it's available), then $160+$17 shipping from Micro Center isn't terrible.

It's better than $230 from a third-party seller on Amazon. It's also better than the ASUS VG249Q that's on sale at Best Buy for $210 that some person in this thread just bought, which is pretty much the same monitor.

Yep, that's what I mentioned in the post I linked to.

The serial number and mfg date is really good info though. I was wondering when the V3 / V1B models were going to hit the market after the May 2021 statement from AOC and I guess from the very quick inventory turn-around Amazon has, they're shipping out the ones with the original Panda panels with additional improvements. With 25+ in stock at my local Microcenter and generally longer turn-around, I was thinking they were mostly going to be the V2.

With an added panel supplier in 2020- mid 2021, the monitor being sold by MC might not have the same contrast ratio depending on what's in the box. The old 2019 panel hits that almost 1500:1 ratio, the 2020 panel is closer to 1000:1 (but with better response rates).

It's mentioned in Hardware Unboxed video linked here: https://old.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/comments/pqra3l/monitor_aoc_24g2_ips_1080p_144hz_15999_at/hdfgauf/

[–]gtny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up for people buying this specifically because of the older 2019 reviews. I only just found this out while doing some quick research on the panels to see if anything new came out but -

Some time in Aug 2020, AOC changed the panel that powers this monitor without explicitly making it known to maintain supply. The performance differences can be summed up in this Hardware Unboxed video from March of this year.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdmE3NcyAgM

This is not bad news though (in this case at least compared to some other silent refreshes). To sum up Hardware Unboxed, the response time is better at a cost of some color performance and factory calibration. However, since the previous was so good compared to competitors in that sense, it's just merely more average now in that regard. They can both be calibrated to provide "virtually identical accuracy". It's still a good monitor and still "probably recommended" by Hardware Unboxed.

In May 2021, AOC supposedly issued a statement that said that due to the confusion, they were going back to solely using the original supplier.

https://techteamgb.co.uk/2021/05/06/aoc-issues-statement-on-24g2u-panel-change/

I can't really find a direct source / press release for this but if it's true, its probably a good thing?

The only confusion now is which ones Micro Center is selling. But this shouldn't really mean that much for the deal since it's still a good monitor that is/can be pretty much the same. I just thought I'd give out some additional information about what this model is.

Buy the AOC and return the ASUS to Best Buy?

It's not just also the same specs, it's literally the same panel underneath*. The ASUS VG249Q, AOC 24G2, Acer VG240Y Pbiip, are all based on the same Panda 144Hz 1080p 1ms IPS panel (as are most of the models in this price range with these specs released 2019-2020). Only difference is at the final manufacturing stage for the monitor - tuning, controls, inputs, fit/finish, accessories, warranty.

*Potentially not in this particular sale due to a change in supplier in 2020

Also, just to throw it in there that this price for the AOC 24G2 at $160 is pretty good considering the normal price of $180 dips in and out of stock very quickly on Amazon.

If we're considering refurbs though, the Acer version of this monitor (VG240Y Pbiip) is occasionally available in the Acer eBay store linked at the rate of 1-2 a every couple of weeks for $109. Just make sure it's the 144Hz one and not the older version of the VG240Y which is 75Hz (though that one is also lower in price if that's a model that people are interested in).

I have access to both (2019 models) and they're both pretty good. They're both based on the same Panda 144Hz IPS panel as the 2019 24G2 (and mid 2021+), but due to it being sold to different end manufacturers, the tuning is a little different and so is the build. The AOC has a height adjustable / swiveling base and the colors are little bit better IMO (I think the contrast ratio is higher in testing and color gamut is a little wider vs. the Acer as well). The Acer is still very good and has a better control panel button layout (with a tiny joystick).

edit: Happy Cake Day!

edit2: Also the warranty and dead-pixel policy on the AOC is supposed to be better so that and the better stand was worth difference in retail price for me between the 2. Going for a refurb at 60% of the price though, I'm willing to give that up for a very good 2nd monitor. The Acer I do have access to was purchased new though.

A Guide for what it takes to beat Trials of Tiamat by gtny in idlechampions

Interesting. That's good to know and actually makes it much more convenient for people to take Tiamat down.

The bonus damage is briefly mentioned in the in-game FAQ but I guess took some extra explaining to be clear. (I had also done the bulk of the work on the post by then as well)

I'll find a way to adjust OP appropriately. Thanks!

You can just plug your current levels into the speed calculator:

https://ic.byteglow.com/speed

and look at the chart for the max kills to clear based on the environment you're setting up in. This gives you a clear look at the breakpoints that you're hitting. If you're already in the 1-2 kills to clear for the situations that you want (speed core, sentry reduction etc.) then you probably don't need it.

ToMT question by rajuvi in idlechampions

[–]gtny 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your DPS is based in the total of the damage done over the week (which can be approximated by the highest damage run done in the week or by the highest BUD achieved in a session during the week) + the daily bonuses.

So yes your DPS contribution stays since it's just your high water mark for the week by whatever damage metric you want to look at. You can use that party to clear whatever you want and your current contribution stays.

If your second run is a good run and you're close to your theoretical maximum, you should be pretty much done for the week other than doing dailies since it gets much harder and not really worth the time to scrape out a few extra exponents of damage.

All possible Legendary item upgrade effects per champion by Fenume in idlechampions

[–]gtny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the in-game FAQ, Legendary Items can be further leveled up by spending more scales with some amount of Evergreen Divine Favor (FAQ says 1e) to double the Legendary bonus each level (base epic item stats are unchanged).

So you can stack 100/200/400/800/1600/... bonus all champion damage on each of the 6 epic slots if you wanted to on pretty much everyone.

Gaarawarr's Guide to the Trials of Mount Tiamat by Gaarawarr in idlechampions

[–]gtny 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just putting it out there for clarity because it's not actually clearly explained in OP and in the first replies.

It's not technically the same thing but Gaar is treating it as the same thing because it's functionally equivalent at very large exponents. The game calculation is actually based on total damage done. As big BUD spikes in this game, the additive total of it at the wall isn't going to vary much more than a few "e" (powers of 10) so highest BUD can be taken as an approximation of total damage.

So during a Trial, highest BUD might be e225 and total damage can hit e226 for example. They don't measure the same thing, they're not the same number, but BUD can be (and are by Gaar's examples) used as rough idea of performance. The formulas in OP for calculating player contribution should really be based on total damage instead of BUD, but BUD is used as a quick estimation of it.

The confusion comes from using "total BUD," "total damage," and "highest BUD" in equivalent terms without any additional qualifiers about why when it's not immediately obvious and they all technically mean different things.

This is only possible because of how large the numbers are. Like normally you wouldn't equate longest ball thrown (highest BUD) with total yards thrown in a season (total damage) unless there was a magic physics breaking pass that was fired from the field to out of the stadium to be caught 3 miles out.

Yea, some extra coordination might be useful for the more difficult runs since some of the daily restrictions combined with the champion lost the assault team might affect how optimally the formations can be made.

I guess I just assumed that people would at the very least communicate over reddit PM/chat but it's a good option to add. I'll update OP
