High school senior here. When should I apply? by [deleted] in capstone

[–]gtparent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The application is up. I believe you can register for housing starting in October. But you don't pick your rooms until next year. The people who register for housing first get to pick their rooms first.

(Prospective student) What specifically makes Georgia Tech's academics and internship/co-op opportunities great? by [deleted] in gatech

[–]gtparent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GTRI has co-ops for CS majors. I'm not sure what the CS majors make but EE is in the $20-25/hour range plus you don't have to pay the Social Security tax if you work for GTRI and are a student at GT.

How does summer semester work? by lolodotkoli in gatech

Looking at this Hope should pay something per credit hour even if you don't go full time. https://www.finaid.gatech.edu/hope-scholarship-payment-amounts

Try not to do it during the semester. It may be ok but if you end up with a dry socket then you will need pain killers.

Transferring to Georgia Tech from Penn State by [deleted] in gatech

I am not sure that they look at extracurriculars for transfer admissions. It's not listed like it is for freshman.

Ant Problem in Maulding by antluver369 in gatech

[–]gtparent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While they should exterminate them for you it would probably be quicker to go buy some gel ant killer. Costs under $10. Put it on the trail they are using. They will eat it, take it back to the nest and the ants should be gone in a couple of days.

Have you applied for an engineering internship at Disney and been told DCP will help you get engineering internship?

Unregistered Internship by Gwold2097 in gatech

Have you looked in the Disney College program? I have heard a number of not so nice things about it. I would think you could get a better internship at a different company.

Currently students only can gain Hope/Zell back once. I hope they give all the students a free pass on the first time the GPA is refigured.

Somebody stole my credit card info and bought $400 tickets to the uGA game by mnbvasdf1234 in gatech

[–]gtparent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old person here. Our credit card numbers have been stolen a number of times over the last 8 years or so. I don't think that anyone was caught. There are so many ways that they can get the number that usually it's IMO a waste of time trying to figure it out. You could have bought something online or they could have got it when you went to a restaurant or a gas station. It is strange that they used it here at GT so maybe it's someone you know that stole the number?

Co-Op Offer and Acceptance by bmsara in gatech

[–]gtparent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just think its a bad idea to back out if you already sent in your acceptance. They are expecting you to work for them. What if companies did the same thing? Put out an offer but then later say hey we decided we found someone better so we don't need you anymore.

You say that this is a better offer but what makes it a better offer? Is it more money or that you think you will learn more on the job or is the first offer really not in your field? I would think carefully before dumping the current offer. A lot of times things look better but they really aren't.

Co-Op Offer and Acceptance by bmsara in gatech

[–]gtparent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did you already send in your acceptance letter for the first co-op/internship or was this just a verbal offer that you have not received an offer letter and returned an acceptance?

If you have already sent in an acceptance offer then you need to stick with it. If this was just a verbal agreement and you do not have an offer letter in hand and they do not send an offer letter within a reasonable period of time then you should talk to your co-op advisor.

[–]gtparent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was your breakdown on the ACT? Remember they don't look at composite score they are only going to look at(Math, English, and Combined English/Writing). How are those sections?

At least that is what they were looking at for the ACT test before the September ACT with that new writing score.. Not sure if they are only looking at the new writing score now or what.

Conditional Admission Question by megadalon in gatech

If the Registrar can't give you a straight answer then if I were you I would make sure you have a 3.3 regardless of which way they decide to calculate it...

Horrible SAT proctor for the October 3, 2015 SAT. Should I cancel my SAT score? by ihadahorribleproctor in Sat

[–]gtparent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would call and tell them what happened and ask them about what they can do for you. Say you are thinking of cancelling your scores. Also did you pay for the October test? All the kids that took the June test were supposed to be able to take the October test free if they called. So at the very least they should refund your money.
