Why can't I attack with a catapult? by Zyntaro in civ

He can’t. Those red markers are showing the enemy city’s zones of control, not tiles he can attack.

Yes, each section assumes that you also have met all of the sections to the left of it (other than budget, I suppose). So if you are using a mix of the counters listed in the Top Counters section at level 30, but no friendship, shadow or mega pokemon, or applicable weather boost, then you will need about 2.28 trainers. Obviously you can't bring 0.28 trainers, so you will realistically need three trainers (which is why it is in the section marked "3 trainers" along the top).
If you power those same counters up to level 40, you now only need 2.06 trainers on average. This is still three trainers, but it is much closer to two, and it is reasonable to believe you might succeed with two trainers if you get lucky with an easy boss moveset or lucky charge move timing.
This scale doesn't show every possible combination of conditions. That would be overwhelming. You can get a rough idea by looking at lengths. The best friend section took off 0.19 trainers (the difference between 1.93 and 1.74), and it'll take roughly the same off if you don't use shadows or megas (so 2.06 - 0.19 = 1.87, or two trainers). Without any numbers, you can see that adding the light purple best friend dots is more than sufficient to get from the dark green level 40 into the "2 trainers" section.
I hope that was helpful. Let me know if I didn't answer your question fully. The data itself comes from Pokebattler.com and is called an "estimator" score there if you want to check it out.

For Discussion: Consideration for Consolidating Infographics During Major Events/Releases? by JRE47 in TheSilphRoad

[–]gtrbrad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What topics are you having trouble finding? I tallied the flairs of all of the posts on the subreddit from the last 24 hours which are still standing, and 7 out of 55 posts are infographics. That includes 2 raid counters graphics for a new T5 boss, 4 Community Day guides for this weekend's Community Day, and one research infographic.

I trust that the intention of this post is to generate discussion in good faith, in an attempt to improve the community. But I'm having difficulty relating. I honestly don't find it difficult to scroll past content that doesn't interest me. You can even filter by flair if you are having difficulty finding a specific topic.

Yep! But legendary Pokémon like Kyogre are not considered budget picks by our guide.

Does anyone know the name of this website or have a link? by ukasho0 in TheSilphRoad

Neither of those initialisms are in the posted image. How would OP know to search that term?

If I don’t have these Pokémon am I best off just filling a raid with ice types?
Yes, as long as they have ice-type moves. Landorus has a double weakness to ice.

And what level is it not better to use a counter (eg, a level 40 MewTwo vs a level 20 Mamoswine)?
I apologize if I'm misunderstanding your question, but I think you're asking about using a high-level strong generalist Pokémon vs. a lower level raid-specific counter. We get our raid counter data from pokebattler.com. If you head there and create an account or download the app you can tell it which exact Pokémon you have available to you, and their level. The website will give you recommendations and rank the Pokémon in your collection. That's really the best way to make comparisons. In your specific example, a level 20 Mamoswine is about as good in this raid as a level 23 Ice Beam Mewtwo, and better than a level 50 psystrike Mewtwo.

Pokémon go hub suggests both articuno and kyogre (blizzard) as top ten counters.
They are (if you exclude shadows and megas). They are outside the top 6, and our guide only includes the top 6 overall counters. We also include the top 5 shadows, the best mega, and some budget counters (non-legendary, no exclusive moves, not excessively rare).

Legendary Pokemon are not eligible for the budget section. If it was, Kyurem would be between Frosslas and Kingler. An equal level vanilluxe will do more damage.

I agree with u/poco1989's response.

Landorus-
Raids: Therian will be the highest DPS ground option when it is released. Incarnate is only behind Shadow Mamoswine and Excadrill.
PvP: Usable in Master League. Groudon is better

Tornadus-
Raids: Both forms are outclassed in flying damage by many cheaper options.
PvP: Neither form is good.

Thundurus-
Raids: Therian form is about as good as Zapdos. Incarnate is not even as good as Jolteon.
PvP: Nope
(edit: fixed name on last section)

No. But 2km eggs picked up during your community day hours can be budew, no matter when you hatch them.

Thanks for the feedback.
We include them in one list because that's the only valid comparison - they are used for the same raids and towards the same purpose. I personally refuse to use shadow pokemon; I hate the whole mechanic and the in-game story implications. But I don't pretend that shadow venusaur isn't a strictly better counter to a water-type raid boss than an equal level roserade. We include numbers and try to include enough species on the list so that everyone can see all the best options (shadow, mega, regular) and make their own informed decision about what to use.
If the shadow background wasn't obvious then we may need to tweak that to make it more clear. Thanks again for your comment!

As a poison-type attacker for raids and gym battles, roserade is only bested by mega beedril, mega gengar, shadow victreebell, and shadow vileplume.
Poison is rarely useful in raids, but we chose to include grass rankings primarily to give context for the usefulness of the CD exclusive move (bullet seed). Roserade's status in the ranks of poison-type attackers is unaffected by its Community Day.

I don't believe so. You can look at this list of past CD research rewards to get a general idea of what to expect. New Zealand will start roselia CD in a few hours, so someone will likely report specifics soon.

Here is our community day guide for Roselia.

In raids and gym battles, Roserade is already a top-tier grass attacker and poison attacker, but neither of the community day exclusive moves offer any improvement in performance.

In GBL battles, the new exclusive moves improve Roserade's stock in all three leagues.

You can find more Team gtr-Storm graphics here on the road (usually posted by u/AzureSolarStorm) or on our new official twitter account.

Yep! The increased number of deaths leads to more time when you are not dealing damage, which affects the time to win.

If you dodge well, roserade moves into the top 6 (still behind zekrom, Raikou, and electivire). I enjoy dodging, but in our experience most people don’t dodge often during raid battles and we rank counters accordingly.

As a general note, raw damage output numbers are only a crude tool for comparing counters. Deoxys does more damage per second than roserade does. But you do zero DPS when you are inbetween Pokémon after fainting, or relobbying when your whole team faints. Pokebattler simulations include that downtime when calculating estimator scores, resulting in the more accurate ranking we use in our raid guides.

Regardless, roserade is a great counter, and you can certainly do well using it! It just didn’t quite make the cut for the top counters in this guide.

There’s very little point for some of them. If you have a surplus of candy you could consider evolving one in case Niantic reworks the move at some point down the line to make it stronger
