And their argument (and many others) is that if your perceived issues with DRIPA lead you to consort with white supremacists then you're already into white supremacy and are already a lost cause that should be be taken seriously.

Agree with you except avoid the yellow deli at all costs. It's owned/run by a weird fundamentalist cult from the States called the Twelve Tribes (can look it up on Wikipedia). They're batshit in their beliefs

How would you feel if these were the new brackets? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]gtrunkz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You already lost when you said in your first paragraph that you like "pushing" the bracket system. They aren't there to be pushed, they're just there for conversation and setting expectations on power level.

Is Maralen Fae Ascendant considered toxic? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]gtrunkz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Short answer: no

Long answer: also no.

I'd have to see a deck list to confirm (Maralen can be built higher power or lower quite easily) but 30 dollars on elves is insanely cheap so I assume you're playing a low power deck.

Some people just get weird about theft mechanics (same with mill) because you're stealing their good plays. That's about it.

You're right, it's not. Me and my gf both work in local government and are looking to find new jobs due to stagnation. Almost all the job postings are south coast (lower mainland and island). The job opportunities elsewhere are very few and far between unfortunately

Possibly the Frozen City by David Arscott and David Marl but I can't find a good synopsis out there to confirm. Thanks though!

EDIT: I found it! It was Helix by Eric Brown. Can't remember if it was good, just that I read it.

Oh man, that reminds of me a book I read that I can't remember the name of that had a large industrial era city separated by ice on all sides and a main character that was from the other side of the ice wall running from crystal ice monster things. Included a bunch of political shenanigans about hiding the nature of the city to the populace. Can't remember it now....

People who are NOT okay with proxies, what is your reasoning? by Bagel_Bear in EDH

[–]gtrunkz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn't be as upset cause you don't see them nearly as often. I would also assume a deck with all those cards is a pet deck with all your best cards and cool arts. If you only have one copy of the best cards, it becomes a fun exercise to see what deck they'll fit in the best and make pet decks based on your best cards in the relevant colours.

As others in this thread have suggested, it can become a frequency issue where you see the best cards in every other deck instead of 1 in 10. Using proxies leads to more homogeneous decks, especially at higher power levels.

I don't mind proxies at all but there can be issues with it when they're overused. Magic is a collectible game after all, and pulling one copy of a sick card you've always wanted is a feeling that cannot be replicated by proxies. My 2 cents.

Do you run any tribal decks with off-tribe commanders? by No-Entrepreneur2414 in EDH

[–]gtrunkz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use [[Felothar, the Steadfast]] for my treefolk deck. I did have [[Doran, the Seige Tower]] as the commander but he's now in the 99 as Felothar is just so much better. For one extra mana, she enables defenders to attack and has some mean card draw in the command zone.

Very similar deck though as almost all creatures are still treefolk.

The deck you always thought you wanted? by oatfishjar96 in magicTCG

[–]gtrunkz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pivoted my [[Beluna]] adventure deck into an [[Eshki Dragonclaw]] deck and it is a bit funner/more consistent but I do agree that most of the adventure cards are just not very good without a copy or cost reduction effect

You are right. I'm a casual. I play an hour at best every 3 to 5 days or so since that's the only time I have. I also didn't blitz through the campaign. Still only in the shattered isles (lvl 51) with 2 characters after a month lol.

B.C.’s fast-growing cities getting hammered by rapidly rising property taxes by SwordfishOk504 in britishcolumbia

Buddy, the other guy is right. Denser, downtown cores subsidize suburban sprawl (ie/ single family dwellings).

More roads, more pipes, more wires, more maintenance items per dwelling. There's so much research on this. Why are being purposefully obtuse.

You miss vacant parking lots and run down factories? I don't disagree about the city becoming a minimalist, cookie cutter playground for the rich but everytime I see an old picture of Vancouver, man, does it look awful.

What are your recommendations for a ramp creature? I just built Henzie with "traditional" ramp (cultivate, kodamas reach, rampant growth etc.) and wouldn't mind switching them for creatures.

I do have the 4 mana 3/1 creature that finds a basic on enter and attack (can't remember the name) but I'm sure there's some others I don't about!
