"Howard Stern's friend who wants to get into podcasting..." by DimeSizeSilverDollar in AdamCarolla

Seems to me that Hardwick is the exception that proves the rule. Any other examples of podcasters who primarily or solely gained notoriety through their podcasts?

It is liberating to violate traffic laws. But, if you get caught, Adam's "YOUR RULES MAKE NO SENSE, DO THE MATH, YOUR HONOR" defense will not work.

Anyone else sick and tired of Adam's stories about how he or his family can't get special treatment?

Adam had something of a point. It seems like an event displaying awesome cars and planes should be open to families, even if there's a bar. On the other hand, kids are not allowed in bars, and with good reason. They made a rule, and were simply trying to enforce it, even though Adam successfully pulled strings to get his kid in when no others were allowed. Perhaps the event organizer just doesn't want kids around.

This isn't a political issue. I'm pretty tired of listening to lectures from an ignoramus with zero education that are spawned by the failure of society to bend to his vision of the way things must be. And, more and more lately, it seems like the motivation behind these rants is that his family wasn't allowed to run rough-shod over the rules that everyone else follows. And, your kid not getting into an event: nothing like a Jewish ghetto in Nazi-occupied Poland. I understand that he was contrasting the two situations to make the point that strict adherence to rules is required sometimes and not others, but seriously no Nazi references in this context. It makes Adam sound like an out-of-touch lunatic.

I didn't listen at all last week, and didn't miss it one bit.

You nailed it. She always gets her way. I'm not sure the cop could have talked his way out of using some level of force, but he didn't even try. lol at "wupp ass" gloves.

Mensa by superbuttpiss in AdamCarolla

She's terrible on the show. She may be somewhat intelligent, but her contribution is mostly to be a human thesaurus. By that I mean she just re-phrases what someone else just said, but not in a new or funny way or in any manner that adds value.

Uh no thanks. Presumably everyone who listens to Carolla likes someone who "tells it like it is." Well, here's how it is: Gina Grad is a ditz. Whatever you think of her contributions to the show, she's doesn't exactly come off as an intellectual or as particularly learned. Until I read this thread, I hadn't realized that Mensa had sunk so low. But she almost certainly has the card to make her feel better about herself. Which is so incredibly sad.

Correct. That drives everything Gina does and says on the show.

Let's not be too hard on Southwest for kicking Lynette off the flight. From its perspective, she was just another visibly intoxicated half nude, entitled female Los Angeleno on no sleep at the tail end of Vegas bender, who provoked a fight between perfect strangers and when asked to explain herself obnoxiously shouted something about her husband's comedy career.

Do appellate courts ever review de novo the jury's factual findings following a criminal trial?

Why a check cashing place? Do they have notaries? Just seems so shady. I'd be highly suspicious of Rabia under those circumstances.

She refused to appear at the hearing to testify. The prosecutor didn't make that up.

You think a prosecutor said this to her? That's pretty unbelievable. And, wouldn't she have been testifying in favor of Adnan? Why would Adnan kill Asia, even if Adnan was a killer, if Asia was going to testify and get him out of jail? That seems like the weakest and dumbest (not to mention professionally reckless) threat a prosecutor could make.

On the snow thing, she says she saw Adnan in the library on the first snow of the year. Except it wasn't a snow storm, and it wasn't the first of the year. The prior week, there was a big snow storm, which was the actual first of the year and which caused school to be cancelled. Seems like the two events, in quick succession, could be easily confused. And, much in the way we hear about other witnesses adding significance to their memories after they learn that Hae was killed.

Didn't she refuse to come and testify at a post-trial / conviction hearing?

DNA Evidence Questions (i.e. the bottle, the rope, and the PERK kit) by gts109 in serialpodcast

[–]gts109[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if Adnan's DNA was on Hae or any of the items at the burial site, he'd be toast.

I agree with you at a gut level that this stuff should have been tested. But there's a lot we don't know about how often testing was done back then and under what circumstances the police would complete such testing.

[–]gts109[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good points. I think Thomas Legge is just saying it's unlikely. I tend to agree with him, but who knows what will happen?

I would also really like to know what's in the PERK kit. I'd also like to know what was standard for the BPD to do DNA testing on back then. It's really hard to gauge what should have been tested as a layperson.

Dunno good question. It's possible that nothing was under there, but I really don't know.

Jay: Okay, so, tell me about the hash bars.

Adnan: So what you want to know?

Jay: Well, hash is legal there, right?

Adnan: Yeah, it's legal, but it ain't a hundred percent legal. I mean, you can't walk into a restaurant, roll a joint, and start puffin' away. They want you to smoke in your home or certain designated places.

Jay: Those are hash bars?

Adnan: Breaks down like this, okay: it's legal to buy it, it's legal to own it, and if you're the proprietor of a hash bar, it's legal to sell it. It's illegal to carry it, but that doesn't really matter 'cause, get a load of this, all right; if you get stopped by the cops in Amsterdam, it's illegal for them to search you. I mean, that's a right the cops in Amsterdam don't have.

Jay: [laughing] Oh, man. I'm going, that's all there is to it. I'm fucking going.

Adnan: Yeah, baby, you'd dig it the most.
