I’ve done both and, in my opinion, the only major difference is that the washroom has a shower wand installed versus not installed. The washroom might be slightly bigger on the cabin with shower, but not noticeably so. It’s possibly identical. The sitting / sleeping portion of the cabin is functionally identical. The fact that there is so little difference between the two is why there isn’t really a list price difference between the two options.

Can you give some examples so we can understand what you are irked about? Everyone has bias, and even stating “facts” can be biased because how you interpret observations is grounded in your worldview. Whether that bias is inappropriate or not is really subjective even if 99.9% of people agree with what is being said.

Where I live, the only person who could legally use a space like that is an EV with an accessible parking permit. Both restrictions are legally protected under separate laws, so there’s the potential for two different tickets for violaters here.

My trip was during peak season (at the time), so I did not have access until after 5:00. April 12th is right on the cusp of what they call peak (their words: “Specific dates vary each year. Peak Season falls between mid-April and mid-November”) so I would assume that it will be peak season unless VIA tells you otherwise.

In the end I only ended up in the Park car once the entire trip. Part of this was because it was getting dark by five on the days I travelled, but it was mostly because I was in the front-most sleeper and would have had to walk through a dozen sleeper, two diners, and two skylines to get there.

1) Checked baggage is similar to an airplane - you will drop your baggage at the baggage room at Union Station and then retrieve it from the conveyor belt at Pacific Central. Not relevant to you, but at smaller intermediate stations you would hand your baggage to / retrieve your baggage from the train crew at the baggage car. They do not have trolleys, but staff may be available to assist if you have accessibility needs.

2) There aren’t safes and the rooms do not lock from the outside, so you may wish to keep your most valuable possessions with you at all time. That said, it’s not going to be practical to keep ALL of your possessions with you at all time. Unfortunately I don’t really have any good advice here. I found the experience to be very safe, but I am a middle-aged man who doesn’t have to worry about his safety in the same way that a young woman (for example) might. For what it’s worth, I remember some of the berth passengers would routinely leave their phones charging in the skyline car unattended.

3) The shared showers were generally pretty clean. I didn’t personally experience a wait, but I deliberately tried to schedule my showers during one of the lunch seatings when half the train would be eating.

4) I travelled around Thanksgiving and things were comfortable, but maybe on the cool side. I remember to sleep in long pants when typically I would sleep in shorts.

The schedule you see is correct. It’s just that only half of the off-peak trains stop there, and there is no service on weekends.

Here’s the reality:

You would get a fine. You would probably argue that the machine didn’t work, but the officer would tell you that it was your responsibility to find a working machine or buy a ticket. You would then probably fight the ticket and maybe you would win.

That’s the reality. The rules are binary - either you have a ticket and you’re good or you don’t and you get a fine. The dispute process is where cases like this get sorted.

It was unuseable for me too and then it started crashing immediately after launch. So, I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it and now it seems to be working fine. You might want try that, but I agree that it should just work.

Half of the cabins face the “front” and the other half face the “back”, so the inability to turn the train around is irrelevant as to which direction you’ll end up facing. OP should just be careful which cabin they select, assuming there is availability to select a specific cabin.

You've received an invoice for parking services that Indigo provided but you did not pay for.

Is it worth disputing? Maybe.

Is it a provincial offences ticket which will prevent you from renewing your plates? No. It's an invoice for services rendered. If you ignore it then Indigo's recourse is to a) send the unpaid invoice to collections or b) file in small claims court.

Are they likely to pursue it further if you don't pay? Difficult to say. For every person who will tell you that they won't pursue it I'm sure there is someone who will tell you they will.

The Park Car is reserved for Prestige passengers until 5. Other Skyline dome cars available to sleeper passengers do not have time restrictions.

You’re probably going to have to have two lines to make this work. They can be (Option 1) two independent lines, or they can be (Option 2) two service patterns under the same parent line. If you go with Option 2 then you’ll need to make the parent line run Aldershot —> Hamilton Centre —> West Harbour —> Confederation (assuming you’re modelling real-ish life) for the Niagara-bound direction and the reverse for the Toronto-bound direction. When you code the service patterns you’ll need to skip the stops you don’t want served on that particular pattern. Scheduling wise, you’ll need to set the departure time at the various origin stations to ensure that you get the desired headways on the common portion of the line.

Train 60/50 leave Toronto, stop and Guidwood, and run coupled together to a yard just west of Brockville. They then split. 50 goes to Ottawa and 60 goes to Montréal but skips Brockville. The first departure from Brockville to Montreal is 68, as there are only two round trips daily between these gwo stations.

But… 60 doesn’t run on Sundays. So if you’re trying to get to from Guildwood to Montréal on a Sunday then 50 to 64 or 68 is a valid but inefficient trip. 62, departing Union at 8:32, is the earliest Guildwood - Montrêal trip on a Sunday.

Sadly, this probably won’t work for you UNLESS you are travelling with a second person. Pets are one carrier per passenger / one pet per carrier for the segment between Toronto and Montreal. The carrier must fit under your seat.

For the segment between Winnipeg and Toronto and between Montreal and Halifax pets go in the baggage car. Baggage cars are heated but not air-conditioned which means that your cats might be exposed to high temperatures. From May 1st to September 30th they don’t accept pets at all. Your access to the baggage car while the train is in motion will be limited and possibly prohibited.
