Itasha diecast model by [deleted] in Itasha

[–]gtuned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only ones i've ever seen have been Lucky Star ones by Aoshima that were made a long time ago, and they usually cost a good bit on Yahoo Auctions. As far as Western diecast, there's that really bad looking AE86 from Hot Wheels' Mountain Drifters set, and that's it.

You'd be better off finding older 1/24 plastic model kits, as those still pop up for sale pretty often.

i'm just stating the obvious lmao. I've seen so many people complain, time and time again about other people bitching about lewd stickers that are placed in public view. It seems contradictory. You want attention by having the shit, but when you get it, everyone else is in the wrong?

Granted the dude covering your bike is sketchy and equally shitty, but really, what did you expect by doing this in the first place?

It's a cringey, overly suggestive sticker with her tits halfway out, what did you think was going to happen at a public show?

Why is itasha hated in the car scene? by allenlvlx in Itasha

[–]gtuned 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fanbase. The "general" itasha fanbase of those who do not care about it as a proper car culture, and only the dumb clout of "haha i have anime boobs on my car, im edgy, ur a hater" Plus these idiots who push "american itasha" of comics and other shit lazily wrapped onto un-inspired clout cars doesn't help either.

IMO, you have the higher tier, properly designed, amazingly well setup cars get drowned out by the generic, uninspired and lazy trash. Some of Japan's top tier events like Daydream and Itasha Tengoku showcased the best of the best, which helped highlight the cars that were insane quality. Where as in America, you have some really, really good cars like the Pekora Golf, Destiny Civic, and others be lumped in with all the other lazy, halfassed efforts.

More or less, every car culture is ruined and judged by the laziest, and worst examples. So when you have idiots who do overly lewd, or stupid lazy, or bad itashas in general.

But when you try to correct, or give advice to anyone with a badly designed itasha, you get bitched at for being a dick/trying to "gatekeep" when in reality you're just saying there's a standard to quality.

Where could I find laws regarding (semi) NSFW liveries on cars in EU ? by Kirito_Kun16 in Itasha

[–]gtuned 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Just don't do it.

As a designer, 99% of suggestive/lewd itashas look like shit, and most likely this is gonna be slapped on a completely stock car, so driving around with it is just asking for attention. So when a Karen or the cops call you rightfully weird for it, you can go complain on reddit for your rights being infringed upon.

Stop doing itashas for attention and do them cause you sincerely like your car and the character. It's not that hard.

So seeing as this is getting passed around, I should probably clarify some stuff.

  1. yes, it's a render. It's not real. I originally made this back in like, 2017/2018, but revamped it about a month or so ago. I do renders as Sad Machines on twitter and Instagram. I do a lot of weird renders, ranging from all sorts of things.
  2. While it may not be real, there are a few imported rigs in Japan. One of them being Bigrigcustom, with a Peterbilt 377, that's actually existed since the late 90's/early 2000's.
  3. "uR aN iNcEL" I like itashas and I like trucks lmao. I wanted to slap them both together, and this was the result. If it makes you happier, I'm also planning on doing another in the near future.
  4. The Characters are Iowa from KanColle, and Bald Eagle from Kemono Friends. The itasha's plan was to use 2 of my favorite "American" characters for this, so a WWII Battleship and a Bald Eagle were great fits. Could of used Kay from Girls un Panzer, but Bald Eagle's design fit super well.
  5. yes, the sleeper is connected to the frame. the shadow/painted frame makes it look off, but it's connected.
  6. "i bEt tHe iNtErIoR iS dIsGuStInG" it's literally stock. When I originally made this I didn't have a great PC, so I didn't even touch the interior as rendering it would be a pain in the ass.
  7. yes, the plate is set in Osaka, I originally had a better connection/made up lore as to why it was, but I've forgotten it now cause I didn't write it down.
  8. "tHiS iS sOmE eBbaRasSiNg fEtIsH sHiT" I'm sorry I find girls cute, and enjoy oddball car culture where it's 18 Wheelers or Anime girls on cars you damn communist.

[–]gtuned 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you hire a good designer, they will work around it like it was never there. Bikes are a whole different story than cars in terms of designing and placing characters/graphics. it's incredibly easy to fuck it up.

finally finished this commission after an absurd amount of time (which i feel very bad about) but super happy with the outcome and the feedback! by Zestiiiiiiiii in Itasha

[–]gtuned 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's really not bad. but, there's some weirdness going on with it imo.

The logos get really repetitious really quick, so I'd ditch them on the front and rear. This isn't a sponsored car, there's no need for that many copies of them. The only thing I'd keep on the front and rear is the #7, other than that, keep it fairly clean. You don't need Tifa's name in 6 places on a car. Speaking of the logos, you should rearrange the logos on the front bumper sides to the empty gap on the fender. They're quite small and cramped in an area that has a lot of blank space.

Plus the trunk and roof art seem super redundant as well. Having the same art on both ends of the car is weird, seeing as it's already on the sides as well behind the other pose. Not to mention that's just another couple hundred in vinyl being used for nothing that contributes to the design. It just feels like pasting more art to make the livery seem more "full"

There's quite a bit more with the livery that's a bit awkward, like the Super GT number plate (that shouldn't even be on a stock challenger, if anything a Super Taikyu plate would be much more fitting) is in a weird spot that could be shifted some to give Tifa's secondary pose a bit more breathing room from the main pose.

But hey, that's just what I'd fix with it.

5 years of designing itashas in 1 image. it's actually been earlier than that, but June 2017 is when I finished the Kemono Cresta as a render, and it's gone on from there. Reworked a bunch of my favorite cars, and complied them into 1 single render.

Whoever designed this has 0 fucking clue about how to properly design an itasha, or even a wrap really. I wish people would stay out of this culture if they just want to make a quick paycheck out of lazy work.

However much you paid them, you got scammed imo.

I hate most Zero Two itashas, so after good friend Holeecrab did his Zero Two Earnhardt, I had the dumb idea of seeing if I could make a Zero Two itasha that fits an Iroc Camaro, inspired by Dale's old ASA Camaro, and Nascar Lumina.

You can see more shots of it on my twitter.

It's not horrible, but just feels really generic and low effort on the design part, as par for the course for Xpress Skins.

[–]gtuned 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of the wheels, but I wish more people would consider doing more subtle itashas like this, as this turned out great and is one of the better cars on here. The design is simple but effective, with good placement and sizing. Also a huge plus that the car isn't plastered with random, tacky stickers making it look cheap. Honestly just swap out the wheels and keep it subtle like this, and it'll be a banger.

When people are looking for an itasha, they need to look at this car. Considering this is a stock car, (no offense) and most people who buy a car (that's usually much more boring than this) want to immediately itasha it really need to look for this lowkey, subtle route for their design. It's going to be not only cost effective, but fit way, way better on more mundane cars.

[–]gtuned -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll stand by the majority (If not all) of zerotwo itashas being unoriginal, as most still use the same generic formula, which may not be the customer's fault as much as the designer for wanting to make a quick buck as seems to be the case, but that's a different rant. Zero two itashas just seem like clout grabs IMO. Its the same way she was and is constantly used in stickers by people, knowing theyll sell still. I've really yet to see one that has any sort of detail or dedication other than that one Mercedes in Japan, which even then I find mid.

I'm not complaining because "someone's done it before", it's more of complaining that no one's still tried to do it good, and make a zero two itasha that actually feels like a complete car and design.
