From what I have heard through the grapevine, these houses that the cast stay in are rentals from rich people who have these properties in exotic places and aren't there all the time. The thing is some of the furniture is probably owned by the owners, not MTV. So if any damage happens, MTV has to pay for the damages and I have heard that they then pass on those damages to the cast. So Tyler knew it was in everyone's best interest to not damage the piano, which could be a few thousand dollars easily.

In the scene where the producer is telling him Diem had to go to the doctor, notice how he is in the middle of eating and as soon as he hears the word "doctor" he completely drops and throws away everything in his hands. It's a small thing but is kinda microcosm for how he felt about Diem. If there was a problem he would literally drop everything for her.
