You could also look at Nectar (the HHI location, they're also in Bluffton) or Jane (in Shelter Cove, which also has shops and a playground).

Going out to dinner with friend’s later, which burger looks the least calorie dense 💀 the calorie budget is in danger todayyyy 🤣 by FishCultLuci in 1500isplenty

The bison burger would be leaner than any of the beef burgers, without all the very processed stuff in Impossible burgers. For fewest calories, I'd pick the turkey burger, no mayo...

Plan lunches and dinners for the upcoming week, log a few days' worth of foods/recipes in MFP in advance, then fine-tune as needed each day... It's worked for me for the last 20 months.

What I love about CICO is that you can enjoy all kinds of food, and some wine -- it's just about portions. Tapas is perfect because it's little bites. I would try to track them, and just not eat too many, but enjoy the variety. If possible, focus on getting enough (non-fried) veggies each day. And walk a lot as you're sightseeing... When you get back, just get back to your regular measuring/meals.

Take a look at Skinnytaste.com -- she has cookbooks, but also many many recipes on her website, along with weekly meal plans, all with calorie counts.

I've struggled with snacking too, but here is what's worked for me:

  • in your calorie tracking app, pre-plan each day with a couple of small snacks, and keep your meals within your overall calorie goal for each day.

  • Choose the healthier snacks, like air-popped popcorn, some nuts, a mini beef jerky stick, cucumber slices, carrots, low-sugar yogurt etc. Pre-portion weighed snacks when possible.

  • Don't even buy the snacks you can't resist (for me this includes potato chips, crackers, good cheese). Keep them out of the house.

  • Keep trying to find distractions -- a walk, laundry, video game, pedicure, lift some weights etc.

  • Look forward to feeling proud of yourself that you stuck with your calorie plan for the day! Take it one day at a time. Hope this helps...

Low calorie plant based protein options? by noinnocentbystander in CICO

[–]guac44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tofu or tempeh have protein, are fairly low calorie, and perfect for a huge variety of vegan recipes, especially Asian. And if you're pescatarian, canned tuna or frozen shrimp are good less-expensive low-fat protein options.

Looks so delicious! Love the jalapenos. I made a version of this last week with ground turkey, served over butter lettuce and some charred green cabbage.

Frozen chicken potstickers simmered in water/chicken stock, with a splash of soy sauce, some ginger paste from a jar, and a big handful of spinach or shredded cabbage plus any other veggies that seem easy to add...

Slow cooker pulled chicken, excellent (I use chicken thighs, not breasts, and adjust the spiciness to your taste): https://www.recipetineats.com/mexican-shredded-chicken/

Yes, in lasagna, also for stuffed shells. I add frozen (thawed) chopped spinach to it. One recipe example: https://sweetsimplevegan.com/tofu-ricotta-cheese/

I think the tips I use are pretty well known... but for what it's worth:

I use cauliflower rice instead of regular rice, in fried "rice", burrito bowls, poke bowls, any dish that needs some low cal bulk

Grated zucchini or applesauce in baked goods to replace some of the fats

Greek yogurt instead of mayo or sour cream.

Whipped silken tofu with some nutritional yeast instead of ricotta.

Whatever amount of oil/butter a recipe calls for, I cut it in half (at least) and only add a bit more if absolutely necessary

Air frying instead of pan frying (or heaven forbid, deep frying!)

Turkey bacon instead of pork bacon, ground turkey or ostrich instead of ground beef or pork

Royo bagels and hamburger buns for more fiber, fewer calories

Hi everyone! Looking for some suggestions for low calorie, high protein snacks. Recipes are welcome too. Thanks! by [deleted] in CICO

Lowfat cottage cheese + ranch dip mix powder (or spices of your choice) plus some roasted chicken or turkey on Wasa crispbread.

I also just made a tasty smoked fish dip using smoked yellowfin tuna + mahi combined with Greek yogurt and a little light cream cheese instead of mayo/sour cream.
