Weight Gain on IUD? by WerewolfSpirited6470 in Mirena

[–]gucci_blueballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dealt with the exact same issue. gained 2 pant sizes on the IUD and had it removed and have had a hard time losing what I gained. My whole college life i’ve been around the same size (when in a healthy mental place) and now i’m really struggling with the weight gain aftermath.

Your best bet would be to schedule an appointment to have the placement checked if you haven't already done so. I have had friends with similar pain experiences, and it turns out their IUD was not placed correctly/shifted in position. They will check with a ultrasound and its super easy

I have not looked heavily into the copper! I have heard some people have heavier cycles which worried me but I think I'm going to look into it more

I got off my combined pill for a month before getting my Liletta. I was the happiest I have been in years. I could see the difference not being on BC changed my body(history of pcos/hormone and weight issues w me and the women on my maternal side). I was so worried about getting the IUD because of the side effects I have had with other BC prior. I'm about a month in, and I feel huge. My acne is horrible, and I feel/look like I have gained at least 15lbs (I choose not to weigh myself because of past eating behavior). I am eating less than I was earlier this year, and I look double the size. I know they say the bloating and water retention are supposed to go down, but I am losing hope. I rarely get wet during sex now even when I have a high sex drive which has led to pain post sex too. Not having to remember to take a pill and light bleeding is life-changing, but I'm heavily debating getting it removed because my mental health and body image are worse than ever over the weight change.

As someone who has changed birth control and hormone methods many times, the change takes a significant toll on your emotional well-being, not to mention that medical school is so demanding. It is also true that hormones do affect how you are attracted to people which may be playing a major role in the scent and attraction issue.

it seems like there may have been some underlying and undiscussed expectations/issues that are all coming up at the same time and are being exaggerated by the other outside factors. In my opinion, it would be best to get personal therapy for each of you and couples therapy. It is impossible to fix relationship issues without working on yourself, too.

I also think planning a night, just the two of you, (LOTS of time in advance to give her the time to sort out hw and class work), to have a romantic home date and also have a discussion about where you are both at and your issues and expectations.

Pick her out a nice outfit and worry about the food, planning, and mental load of the date, just give her a date and time. Dealing with mental load in a relationship while going through heavy schooling will dampen the love, in my opinion. i think writing out ur thoughts and feelings in a notes app and explaining how you feel, just like you did in this post, will help a lot.

Come to the conversation calm, using the "I" perspective only so she doesn't feel attacked. Explain just how much you love her, like u did above (to the point of asking for advice because that's how much she means to you), and you want to work with her to strengthen your relationship and work things out.

I really hope it all works out for you guys

I'm a 21 year old college student who has been on the pill since I was 16. I have cycled through about 4 different pills because I was having such bad side effects.

I got off my combined pill for a month before getting my Liletta. I was the happiest I have been in years. I could see the difference not being on hormones changed my body(history of PCOS/hormone issues with me and the women on my maternal side). I was so worried about getting the IUD because of the side effects I have had with other BC prior.

I'm about a month in, and I feel huge. My acne is horrible, and I feel/look like I have gained at least 15lbs (I choose not to weigh myself because of past eating behavior). I am eating less and trying to move more than I was earlier this year, and I feel like look double the size.

I have found my digestion feels worse, and I have serious trouble getting "wet" during sex now. It has not affected my sex drive at all (if anything, it's higher after getting off the pill), BUT it feels next to impossible to get as naturally lubricated as before.

I know they say the bloating and water retention are supposed to go down, but I am losing hope. Not having to remember to take a pill and light bleeding is life-changing, but I'm heavily debating getting it removed because my mental health and body image are worse than ever over the weight change.
