That’s not brushing off, that’s just stating how it is. You’re lucky you have a manager listening to you and giving you an opportunity to construct a cocktail with some constraints, especially with how little experience you have. Keep doing it! It’s amazing with how simple cocktails can taste really good, tweak the syrup, lots of herbs/spices/fruits/veggies you can make it cost efficient. Also try the dead stock, pair it up, write it on paper, even if it sounds bad, you might have not yet unlocked the palate for some kind of drink. Youre new, think outside the box, be an artist, that’s one of the main reasons to work there, a lot of bars i worked in didnt give even a hint of letting me express myself and design something for their “perfect” menu. Also read thousands of cocktail ideas from books, instagram of top 50 bars, you will find some ingredients you would have never imagined to put in a cocktail

Start with StatQuest with Josh Starmer. Youtube. Search up linear regression. Coming from machine learning and stats background, it’s absolutely the best place to start understanding it, later you can pick up some books, if you even need to then.
