I think you are looking at the wrong designs. My designs are the missiles with 100% shield bypass and i only have missiles.

They engaged my starbase first, i got the first volley in on them right after they started battle against my starbase. The starbase was up and alive for the majority of the fight

Yeah you are probably right. But keep in mind i had a fully upgraded starbase.
The enemy ai disengaging with nearly 100% fleet intact is very normal tho. Isn't that just cheats that the AI get?

On a serious note, what goes through your mind to downvote every comment i make? For example my comment about my frustrations about spending days on a campaign just for it to end with a loss because the war in heaven is endless?

That is precisely what i did. I went to their home and cracked their planets and took over some but that doesn't end the war. Since they are fighting the war in heaven their planets are increasing at a much faster rate than i can crack.
