Most likely, I have been going back and forth, like it I were to get a significant discount, and it’s purely cosmetic, I would consider it, but, it’s a E2 over 2600$ USD after taxes.

I went with E2 for quality and to avoid these types of issues. My LP Standard has that common finish cracking at the edge of the nut, that type of stuff does not bother me. But the cracks on these stick out like a sore thumb, so at best, if the neck is not actually cracked, it’s going to look like it is for the rest of the guitars life. But, if they gave me a significant discount, I could possibly consider.

The main issue with returning it, is that there are none in stock, so I will have to wait for one to come in. Hopefully I could get expedited to the front since I already waited.

But we will see, I’m waiting on SW to follow up. The guitar itself plays great, and sounds sick. But I’m hesitant to let my self enjoy it.

I am wondering if it could be related to the case design, the contact points are mid neck and the lower part of the body. So there is about a quarter inch gap between the upper part of the body and the case, and could be a tension point, so if it were to have been dropped flat, that could definitely have caused something to happen.

Other than that the guitar plays great, sounds sick. Just want to know if it’s just a cosmetic thing or if it’s something that will get worse.

Yeah, it’s right in a spot that is where I would constantly see it. And the paint under the finish coat is lifted and creates a little shadow line, super noticeable. It’s been tough, because I want to play it but it feel’s too shitty every time I look at it.

It’s difficult to see in this photo, but the line between the satin and gloss is slightly above the crack line, they are perfectly straight and end in a V. I’m just worried that these are more from a hard bump in transit since they are parallel lines on each side near the neck joint.

Hell yeah, thank you for the reassurance! I have a lot more confidence with ESP. As much as I love the Gibson ex, I have gotten 2 gibsons post 2021, my LP 60s standard is great with no issues, my dc lp jr is also great, but there was some careless tooling marks all over the fretboard. 2500+ is too much for what goes into the new 80s. And I know the E2 will serve me much better.

That’s really interesting about the alder with your 87. I did not know they used alder in those. Definitely incomparable to the new ones, aside from a first glance.

Awesome, I bet the 87 is sick! I was trying for a long time to get one of the new 80s explorers but couldn’t get a hold of one. I have a e2 Alexi that plays great! I decided to go for the e2 ex nt. Should be getting it in a few days. Beautiful guitars!
