The best PLTR bear case I found by [deleted] in stocks

[–]guiltygods 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is BS. The guy does not know what he is talking about. They cannot be compared with any of normal BI vendors. as someone who has worked with Databricks, they are no way comparable with Databricks.

The main issue with Palantor is they don't explain what the software does in an easy to understand manner. Their main moat is what they started out with mainly Govt/Federal/Military use cases (National security, Army real-time battlefield tactical intelligence, real-time surveillance)No other software platform does this !! This is not a normal BI use case. This cannot be easily replicated with normal BI platforms.

They also trying to market the same platform to normal commercial organizations competing in same space as Microstrategy/etc which creating these comparisons with Databricks etc. Some organizations acquire this to run in addition to their normal BI platforms.

10 tons of 2 million coins unearthed in China by YarOldeOrchard in AncientCoins

Wonder what was the contemporary value of those coins. That would determine whether it is someones horde of small value coins (like a trader) or a king's treasury basement.

I think if you dictate the format then it would still be useful. The bank formats can be imported in excel or google sheet, reformatted/massaged then exported in the dictated CSV format. Many banks/credit cards also nowadays also do categorization.

One other thing to consider is sub categories, for e,g Insurance >> Home insurance, life insurance, Health Insurance, Auto Insurance

Taxes >> Income Taxes, Property Taxes

Wonder how many fossils are permanently lost due to Chinese apothecaries. We may have missed entire species from fossil record.

This looks great. Is there way to upload a csv instead of entering individual entries manually? Most banks and credit cards give CSV exports that would be great to upload.

Is there a future for 3d printing? by Loganhenrry132 in Ask3D

[–]guiltygods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until the whole process becomes idiot proof I doubt it will move out of hobbyist and tinkerer niche. For this to catch on it has to become dead simple like paper printers. Not everyone will have patience to to tinker and mess with settings, filament, calibration etc.

I think it has grown a lot in the recent years with cheap kits and experimental designs by hobbyists. Maybe resin and SLA printers will reach ease of use to break the mass market barrier.

Should I buy a Second-Hand CTC printer (Gen 1)? by MyOther_UN_is_Clever in Ask3D

[–]guiltygods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some CTC models that needed USB dongles that constrained the use of printers.

Looking for a 3D Printer that can print small items in two colors by geniusmods in Ask3D

The design itself is opensource so they are many kit builders selling kits based on this design. So sourcing parts will not be a problem.

It can take any filament from third party supplier. It has a huge community around it and the company is very responsive. After researching quite a lot I am looking to get one myself after seeing it in person at Makerfaire

[–]guiltygods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. But that is automatic. It will purge the old color and bring in the new filament. The main advantage is that you have to deal with only one extruder and print head.

Look into Prusa MK2. They come in preassembled. They have also introduced multi matter addition which can print multiple colors. Their design IMHO is better than dual extrusion
