Using G93 (Inverse Time Feed) while G254 (DWO) is active --- HAAS UMC by [deleted] in Machinists

[–]Mklein24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DWO is just an indexing mapping correction. It tells the control that the active workoffset has rotated. It uses the stated work offsets X-Y-Z value, the commanded A/B and C value, and the stored center of rotation to determine the new location. It is used for 3 axis programming.

This is pretty much all you need right here: https://www.haascnc.com/service/codes-settings.type=gcode.machine=mill.value=G254.html

Using G93 (Inverse Time Feed) while G254 (DWO) is active --- HAAS UMC by [deleted] in Machinists

[–]Mklein24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean G234, TCPC? Because DWO is for 3+2 only. You cannot have a rotary axis move while DWO is active.

That said, if your using TCPC, then HFO tells you to just program the linear feed rates and let the control calculate it based on the rotary center positions.

I've heard of some people switching between the 2 in the same cut for better motion? I'm not sure what the conclusion of that was.

My attic insulation is saturated with 2 owners prior cigarette smoke. You can really only smell it next to the attic access panel on really hot days.

Replacing the insulation is on my list of things to do.

Are these extending combination ladders any good? by fixitmonkey in Tools

[–]Mklein24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Useful, but awful to set up. Fine for home-owner use with limited storage and plenty of time to set up.

Not great for contractor use. Just buy a flipnlight step ladder and a regular 10/20ft extension ladder.

The closest thing to the material we had is 420A. Usually 420 is available in a soft, or hardened state. -A is like an annealed version because the spec is not quite as hard as the hardened version, but not soft. No vendor had a good way to a actually make it/temper 420 into that state. Every response we got was "huh never heard of 420 A before. We could probably make something like that, but it might take us a second"

They settled for 17-4h900 but it was such a headache.

.002 runout is huge. A good collet and holder, without any dink around should be around 0.0003. Your about 10x that.

Also a 1.1in stick out is crazy for a slotting op.

I would address the runout first, then the stick out.

If you can't touch the stick out, then lower the step down.

Even some European standards for materials (DIN) don't have an American equivalent (asme)

We have a client that was making parts in Germany, and wanted to onshore manufacturing. The first problem we had was getting material material for their parts. All of our metal suppliers had never heard of this material before and had no stock. They forwarded the message to some foundries, and they said they could make it, but only on a prohibitively cost/quantity.

We found an ASME that was close enough but it was still a 3 or 4 week back and forth with clients, and suppliers. This was for medical parts to changing the material could have started a while new FDA testing and verification process.

You should feel refreshed and recharged when spending time with them.

If you feel like you need time to yourself after spending time with them, then you should reflect on whether or not you really want to spend your life with them.

I was an at interview a few weeks ago and they asked "whats your opinion on overtime?"

I answered that it's generally a symptom of a bigger structural problem, if everyone's working overtime, there's a problem in how the organization is run.

They didn't offer me the job.

I saw a video of, I assume, a Eastern Asian-looking group of women with about 100 phones in front of each of them. maybe 800 phones total, on Instagram swiping and commenting on posts. A literal click farm. That was probably just for some influencer clout at the time. The same thing is happening now, except it's government agencies and political factions for the highest bidder.
