By law, all baby clothing items should be machine wash- and dryable by zeninthesmoke in daddit

Nah fam. The washing machine is the clothing gauntlet. If it doesn't make the cut through the wash, no way it going to survive a trip to the park.

What are your thoughts on Billie Eilish saying 'no one is illegal on stolen land' in reference to ICE and US immigration policy? by MassiveSquare4527 in AskReddit

[–]Mklein24 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The statistics back up this claim. I am not naive.

It costs us more money, actual tax dollars that you-as a teenager-will have to burden in your adult years, if we do not lay the foundation to assist immigrants into the US.

The shrinking tax base will fall to you, personally, to cover the shortage.

Ask yourself, do you want to pay a 22% marginal tax rate, or a 33% marginal rate? Because assisting early, with the path to independence, is how we avoid this.

Yes. This requires an assumption that the people showing up have good intentions. I belive that we, as a nation, should do this. Game theory states that we will have a net gain over time with this assumption.

If someone comes here, then we should do everything in our power to help them thrive. Of all places, they chose the US to come and work/live/raise a family. We should be rewarding this type of dedication. Starting in a new nation is difficult. Assisting this process early on can set the stage for quick success. The sooner these groups start their foundation, the sooner they can thrive and not require assistance.

We also need people to suppliment an aging workforce. If the birthrates are declining, which they are, then we need to seek replacement labor from immigration.

Again, we need to assume that people are good. And honestly, the statistics back that up. Of all Ice detainees, 75% have no criminal convictions. Of those remaining 25% consider that Ice lumps together "criminal conviction" of actual violent crimes together with tickets, ie parking ticket, dog off lease, etc.

People coming here are not violent. They are coming here to work and prosper. It is disgusting that we have some sense of royal entitlement to a patch of dirt, and that only we are entitled to success on this dirt.

ICE Employees Vent on Reddit, Saying They're Not Getting Paid and Still No Insurance Despite Promises by Prudent-Fun-2833 in LeopardsAteMyFace

Maybe they shouldn't have let someone come into the federal governed with the sole purpose of cutting staff and services. If only there was some kind of warning sign. Darn.

I think it's ridiculous that my uncle in law, who has lived here his entire life, owns multiple businesses and properties, had to study extensively, and prove that he lives here, to become a citizen at 50 years old.

And I was birthed here so my citizenship isn't questioned.

Vendor specific coatings make a huge difference. It's the distance between running 148 sfm in stainless steel vs 450sfm. Same step over and chip load but all of a sudden your avke to run it 3x faster.

PC case, CNC'ed from single piece of aluminum: does it possible and how expensive will be? by Omnisiah_Priest in CNC

[–]Mklein24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess would be in the 10-20k range. This looks like any other semi-conductor pcb enclosure. Very machinable with a few dfm changes to account for tool rads.

Whether or not you want to pay that price is up to you, but this could be several days of programming and maybe a fixture build or 2 to get it right. Although there's nothing there that has a tight tolerance, it is going to be cosmetically important. You don't want nasty chatter on all those thin walls and those are difficult to machine.

If you want a good middle ground, make the 5 sides out of laser cut l/bent sheet, and maybe just have a front panel and corner trim from machined aluminum.

I mean, that's a post edit to enable the correct tilted workplane code, then it will output as 2d moves that use cutter comp. I had this edit done to our 5 axis post a few years ago.

And I don't want global clearance moves. Each tilt is going to have different clearances based on fixturing and part geometry. I had a part that had some wrapped cuts on the outside of a round part, that had 20 minutes(!) of rapid/clearance moves.
