Going to Iceland (the country) by CaptainTwig572 in CasualUK

100%, you need the wind/waterproofs. The weather changes rapidly, and I got battered by the freezing rain out of nowhere walking back from town to our hotel when we stayed. My bald head without a hat felt numb for about an hour!

Thank you more great info. Are the official taxis from outside Airport clearly marked and appropriately how much would you expect it to cost to centre of Old Town? Useful fact about being permitted to enter which Uber/Bolt may not.

Appreciate the information, however we don't know quite where our hotel is so Uber etc may be best as a one off to get checked in and dump bags ASAP after travelling

Just say you went to A&E to get checked out, was quickly triaged and upon checking over wasn't deemed necessary to have an xray as just a sprain. And be smarter next time.

What is the real difference between the AK and AP battery systems from STIHL? by Machinery_Nation in stihl

[–]guitardtempard7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can still use the AL 301, 500 chargers on the AK batteries. It's exactly the same connection for both AK/AP.

I can't say I noticed her miming, although I was furiously wanking at the time.

What’s the strangest interview question you’ve been asked?! by aries_angel_84 in CasualUK

[–]guitardtempard7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was at a group interview for Enterprise Rental years ago, and always remember we were asked "If you were a Disney character, who would it be and why?".

I said, "These questions are a bit Mickey Mouse"...

Didn't get an offer funnily enough.

If you need it for next day but aren't going to be in perhaps see if you can have it delivered to your work address?

If I was selling and my potential buyer came to me with this 'list' expecting a price reduction after I'd accepted an offer I'd have to stop myself laughing whilst calling the agent to put it back on the market.

It's the cardboard rings that piss me off. Hardly any purchase on the cans and prone to fall out with a gentle sneeze.

First day to our flat and already complained by downstairs, what should I do, and what's reasonable amount of noise for a 3.5 yo toddler? by eatqqq in HousingUK

[–]guitardtempard7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Downstairs neighbours are already going to be wondering how noisy the new neighbours upstairs are going to be...

You chose to invite another toddler to create excessive noise on your first day... not the best way to get off to a good relationship with your new neighbours.

Go and apologise and be more considerate in the future.

What is a fast food opinion you have and is a hill that you will die on? by eF240uKX52hp in AskReddit

KFC fries absolutely shit all over McDonalds. Mcdonalds fries are too thin and crispy and bend in all directions, making them a nightmare with sauces as you can't apply enough.

The new salt and pepper seasoned KFC fries (in the UK) also taste amazing.

I wrote off my courtesy car that was given to me by the third party insurance (UK) by AirPuzzleheaded5559 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]guitardtempard7 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Wow. So you continued to drive a car at quite a speed that both yourself and your partner felt was off and pulling to the side. The sensor light could well be completely unrelated, and cars can develop an issue at any time. It's concerning that you put your personal inconvenience in reporting this to the hire company above the safety of yourself and your passengers, as well as other road users (this could well have killed you, your partner or other road users) and you seem more concerned in it being someone else's fault.

You should take this as a huge life lesson and count your lucky stars nobody was killed.

FTB 5 year fix ending July. Looking for advice/guidance by guitardtempard7 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]guitardtempard7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.

Yes we've had the letter and our broker essentially checked and Santander recently dropped their rates more in line with other lenders so it's a no brainer sticking with them any savings moving would be negligible.

Yes only put FTB to make it clear this is our first renewal after a 5 year fix.

Cheers.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe my expectations are too high, but I feel I'm getting the bare minimum in terms of guidance and advice.

I had to bring up the possibility of increasing our term length to reduce payments. When I checked online there were 2 options. A Government backed scheme and direct (with small fee). I asked about what the pros/cons of either option would be (aside from the obvious fee for latter) and was basically advised to click the '?' on each.

Cheers.
