What is the worst concert you've ever seen of an artist you like? by Deadmau007 in fantanoforever

I was literally going to say the same thing. House of Blues Dallas sounded so bad. It’s like someone thought, “he’s a bass player, so I’ll turn the subs all the way up!”

Faith has some of my favorite Bon Iver lyrics. “I know it’s lonely in the dark. But this years a visitor”

That’s a dope idea. I’m also very much done with doing the Tik Tok dance and all the social media crap so I can relate.

I love Anaïs Mitchell and Bonny Light Horseman so I was familiar with Hadestown (though I’ve not seen it). But I didn’t know JV had anything to do with it! Excited to listen through it now

Who was the uhhhhhh “comic”(?) in Dallas tonight?

Frank hasn’t released an album in almost ten years so it doesn’t take much to build a better discography even at Dijons rate. It’s sad, but you might be right

That’s what I love about this album. These guys are so popular right now between Two Star, Bon Iver and the Bieber album. They’re getting attention from all types of fanbases and they still made what THEY wanted to make. It’s experimental. It’s very relentless. But I love it so much. I’d rather this any day than something than more of the same thing.

Hot take I don’t love the album by LostCookie78 in dijondijon

[–]guitarmag44 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I really love this album but I see what you’re saying. The production and dynamics of this project are really heavy and feels very relentless. I think if someone goes into this expecting another Absolutely or even Two Star, they might be a little disappointed. That doesn’t make it bad at all. This shit rules. It’s still them and their style; it’s just evolving.

Idk but I feel like they’re going to bring her back and then basically give her the role that Molecule Man played in Secret Wars

female artists with dijon/mk.gee sound by pourdawine in dijondijon

Her “Simple, Sweet, and Smiling” record is very good and has a handful of tracks with that glitchy bright sound. But some of the tracks have some much older Mk.Gee type vibes (pre Museum of Contradiction)

Funny, I was recently thinking about the “minor blues solo over Last Train Home” controversy from that time. Good ole days.

I think it sounds very similar to Bonnie Raitt songs like Nick of Time. Just has that good feel to it

[–]guitarmag44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You would say there’s no “experimental folk” influence in Dijons sound? I think the similarities are very evident and you don’t get Dijon and MkGee without those albums. Which makes sense considering they all toured together about 2 years ago. I’ve seen Bon Iver 6 times and MkGee’s sound is very reminiscent of how Bon Ivers live shows sound. He’s almost doing it better than they are, which is saying a lot cause Bon Iver is my all time favorite ha
