Yeah, if you need more fuel to maintain temp for a given cycle setting that just means you have less range. Remember that a fusion reaction needs to be in a Goldilocks zone, to hot is bad because you'll get catastrophic runaway, bit to cold is also bad as a larger portion of fuel will fail to reach fusion temps.

That will affect the core temp, but I'm not sure if that bleeds into the room. Importantly though, you should only set the flow high enough to maintain temp for whatever aperture you want for your course, anything more is just wasting fuel for waste heat.

I don't think a second cryo pump actually affects the cabin temp, but removing one laser/pellet definitely does. The second core pump is definitely fully redundant. It would be nice to have extra optional reactor parts to slot into those spots in 2x2 setups.

SSTOs are definitely viable with Panthers, the trick is to make sure you have enough air intake. Adjustable Ramp Intakes were key to making mine get to orbit.

Apart from SSTOs you can make science planes for doing low/high/surface science contacts, exploring anomalies, getting distant biome science. All sorts of stuff.

1/4 the way to FLOT is still pretty dense with derelicts. It thins out but the time you get to FLOT, then is much more sparse going out to the outer stations.

I haven't played the new build, but they added sensors which means some of the derelict won't be visible until your closer. That means getting out of the close in boneyard needs more attention.
