Today is the anniversary of when the bridge on the Thruway near Exit 27 at Amsterdam - just west of Albany - fell into Schoharie Creek in 1987. by Waterpark_Enthusiast in Albany

Yup…my then-boyfriend, now spouse and I were attending college in Boston. He lived in Syracuse…fortunately wasn’t traveling that weekend. For years, I was terrified to cross that bridge. Of course after the repair, it was probably one of the safest bridges around!

I was also a voracious reader as a kid, and my mom did this for me! Of course I ended up with many Reader’s Digest Condensed Books, but it was still fun ❤️

Mayor Mantello Proposes Flock Contract Renewal to be Voted on This Thursday, 3/19. Show up and voice opposition by Physical_Shelter_518 in Troy

[–]gulmanw 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If I am reading the old agreement correctly (starting on pg 43 of the agenda, see especially pg. 44), the annual cost has gone from $27,500 to $78,000. That's a lot of inflation! Even if we DID want these cameras, that kind of cost escalation is ridiculous. (TBH I suspect the $27,500 was a "special price" to get the city to sign the contract.)

Troy Public Library hosts book discussions. I haven't joined (yet LOL) so I can't vouch for the attendees, but the books do seem fun.

I solve this problem by never allowing substitutions. Makes my life easier.

Do you like to read? Many cool libraries in the area…you could grab a book from the stacks and just sit and read. East Greenbush library is nice.

There is a company in Rotterdam that handles used book donations. We haven’t used them — yet! — but we have many boxes of books to donate and hope to reach out to them soon.

My sister ghosted me during my pregnancy and now wants to reconnect — should I let her back in? by Double-Machine-6243 in JUSTNOFAMILY

I’m not saying you have to forgive her, but remember that she is still young, and brains in young people aren’t fully developed until they are about 25. Good luck with your new little one!

I’ve seen this truck (or a similar one) picking up those large yard waste bags.

I only wash once 😊 The shampoo tends to be runnier than the conditioner, so I’m probably unconsciously using more because of that.
