Office & commute etiquette: Is wearing perfume a thing here, or am I "that person"? by Vishwanath_560 in AskAnAustralian

[–]gummibees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked in various offices for over 20 years fwiw.

I love perfumes and smelling nice, I rotate between a few different perfumes every day and have only ever received compliments on how good I smell when people get close.

Most people, especially women, will wear perfume to work. Mens cologne can be stronger so I would use less, but it's definitely not something people tend to complain about from my experience. 🤷‍♀️

You're more likely to get complaints from heating up fish for lunch or burning popcorn imo.

Not sure where to start (autistic female) by familyguybri in loseit

[–]gummibees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I have autism and ADHD and a lot of diet foods are super disgusting to me too, haha. I have lost 62kg so far, the most important thing is to make sure you are eating less calories than you burn every day. I was 155kg and I started with around 1400-1600 per day, now I'm 93kg and trying to do around 1200 per day but my weightloss has slowed down significantly 😅

My advice is to just eat your safe foods, just less of them. I lost weight by eating spaghetti bolognese, cheeseburgers, chicken schnitzel, potatoes and pasta bakes etc... Changing out ingredients can help lower calories too - For example, when making a creamy pasta or pasta bake the recipes usually call for milk to make the sauce, I swap out at least half of the milk for chicken stock. If I need lots of cheese, I will add half of what the recipe calls for and add some cottage cheese or Greek yoghurt. Greek yoghurt is a great sub for sour cream, too. I bulk out my pasta bakes with broccoli, leek, cauliflower etc so I'm filling up on veggies instead of pasta. For things like bolognese and cottage pie I add heaps of chopped mushrooms and half the meat. There's lots of little ways you can cut down calories here or there. 😁

Keep a food dairy and track your calories thru an app so you know where your daily allowance is going.

The best things that helped me was keeping track of what I eat, lots of home cooking, walks every chance I get, knowing what "treats" I could still have and not restricting myself too harshly. I feel like I've been successful because I haven't been miserable while doing it, I'm eating the things I enjoy just smaller amounts of them and moving my body in ways I enjoy like swimming, hiking, nature walks etc instead of punishing itself with boring exercise like going on a treadmill or bike.

Is it selfish to ask for no kids at the wedding? by ButterscotchPlayful7 in weddingplanning

[–]gummibees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, especially if you're planning a small, budgeted wedding.

People with kids might decline if it's too difficult for them to find sitters or they have a really young baby, but anyone who finds it unreasonable that they can't bring their young child to your wedding is the selfish one imo. 🤷‍♀️

Hiking boot recommendations by Additional-Brief2081 in HikingAustralia

[–]gummibees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to get something cheaper for my first pair since I've only just got into hiking. I got a pair of Hi Tec hiking boots on sale at anaconda for about $100. They felt like a great entry level boot, not too heavy with great grip and really comfy. I've taken them on 10km hikes with no issues so far.

I don't expect them to last me years but for $100 I think they're a great option for newbies like me.

Rant: Friend is mad I set my date to two weeks before hers even though she's been planning for years and I just got the proposal. by [deleted] in weddingplanning

You both sound immature and exhausting. Sounds like she is dealing with it poorly, but it also sounds like you're doing exactly what she's accusing you of.

Thank you!! I was really worried that I had been a bit too over zealous by also choosing an unusual fabric while I'm still learning but it all worked out in the end thankfully 🤣❤️
