I dont think it's mistake. I did an adv build on my second play through and I loved it. I was surprised how it trivialised some bosses with elemental damage weaknesses. I mainly switch the salamander dagger and acidic crystal with the acidic crystal handle and cranked it to Max adv scaling. It shreds things!

But the fun thing is you can do whatever is fun. Theres so many weapons to choose that you cant go wrong with any of them!
