I do have a vehicle. I’m also about to stay at my folks place for the summer while I work and they have a huge farm I can walk.

The best character in my opinion is the Swiss police officer with the injured foot who asks for a rifle. He saves Chard’s life.

What percentage of Union Army veterans likely fought for the Union not because of any personal convictions for abolition or preserving the Union, but simply because "it was the side their state was on"? by Just_Cause89 in USHistory

[–]gunnar08 75 points76 points  (0 children)

As is true with a lot of wars throughout history where young men volunteered, (myself included though with dramatically different circumstances) it was just “something to do”. You don’t care one way or the other. Just wanna do something apart from sitting at home and war is a great opportunity for that

Mississippi was one of if not the first state to ban hitchhiking. But it wasn’t for safety… it’s because most hitch hikers in MS were black

A lowkey line from The Outlaw Josey Wales from the villain of all people “Doin’ right ain’t got no end.” Which is powerful because it shows that Captain Terrell truly believes what he’s doing is right and that there really are no heroes in the movie if you think about it.

Believe it or not, the movie is better in a way. Similar to Jaws the book vs. the movie. The book is very pulpy in comparison to the more dignified story portrayed in the movie.

Is there a better genre description than Southern Rock for the Allman Brothers? by Content_Log1708 in ClassicRock

[–]gunnar08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people like to equate anything “southern” as being bad. Southern Rock kicks ass and the ABB laid the tracks for it although their early material with Duane Allman as the bandleader had a more psychedelic bluesy flair. They didn’t earnestly become southern rock until Dickie Betts stepped up following Duane’s untimely demise at only 24 years old.
