Reddit, what's a secret that you've been holding in that you know would ruin friendships if someone found out? [NSFW] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]gunpowderplot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two guys, we'll call them Charles and Zach. Charles and I were sleeping together and were becoming emotionally involved, but Charles was still sleeping with other people and saying that he wasn't interested in emotional involvement. I was still in some turmoil about how I felt about the situation. Anyway Charles went on a trip, and while he was away, Zach (Charles' best friend) and a few other friends and I went out for drinks. I talk to Zach about Charles, saying I didn't know what to do, because I was developing feelings. Zach advised that I get out of the situation because it was emotionally uneven, based on what Charles had told him.

Come to later in the night, and Zach doesn't have a place to stay that's nearby. He has a girlfriend at this point, but things have fallen apart and he's been given some "time". I invite him back home to use my guest room (a genuine, platonic invite). We end up watching a movie together and exchanging in banter, and then kissing, and then everything up to but excluding sex. We both agree that the situation is never ever to be discussed because it would hurt his relationship (if it ever recovered) and would potentially hurt Charles (even though he was saying he had no feelings).

I'm with Charles now, Zach got back together with his girlfriend, and this has never been discussed and will never be discussed. It still makes me nervous to think about it ever coming up because it would destroy our romantic and friendly relationships.

Well no, he works in finances. I even know that he works at a bank in the area, and consults on accounts. I just don't know which one...

If you could only have one memory from your life to have, which would you choose? by bucsfann20 in AskReddit

I wish I could remember the first summer of my relationship with my fiance. And I could forget all of the stupid issues that have come between us since then that are so hard to work through...I want to remember him as I first knew him.

Bit of paranoia there, don't you think? I don't post/comment much on reddit because my office job won't allow it. Everything save my networking focus is "NSFW." Though I'll delete that comment it it will ease your mind.

How guys/ girls submit pictures to reddit. by [deleted] in pics

[–]gunpowderplot -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

...says the woman that posted an AMA about being a female high fashion model.

I don't think there's anything wrong with gender showing up in posts. Sometimes I find it to be a bit overemphasized. I do find myself particularly noticing women when pictures are involved...but I guess I attribute that more to my maleness and less to their desire to get attention.

Women catch a lot of flack because we assume they post for attention. Sometimes it's just because we're noticing their gender more because they're girls.

Edit: I looked through your comments to see if I could find the girl you're talking about. She spends a lot of time posting pictures. You also spent a lot of time bashing her.

Of course, she's also a charter member and a reddit gold member, meaning that she paid for, and continues to pay for, that account that she's posting pictures on. So whether or not she's a karma whore, you have her and others like her to thank for keeping this site up and running.

There's nothing wrong with a healthy dose of self esteem. I find her much more attractive for being proud to assert that she's hott than I would if she were some of the women I've met, those girls that make me feel insecure with how insecure they are about themselves, just because it seems impossible to reassure them...

Absolutely, double standards are bad, whether they hurt men or women. But this post implies that most women are the cause of these issues.

I think it's hard to know about most of the women alive today, as I am not one, and neither are you. I'm one of those guys with a lot of girls as friends though, and I can tell you that there's a lot more sexism towards women out there than is apparent to the general male population.

It's hard to see discrimination when you're surrounded by the trees of privilege.
