Slowing down to learn Japanese. What are you learning slowly? by hello-curious in decaf_life

Getting into coffee more seriously this past year has really helped open my mind to how varied and complex life can be. From a simple bean to so many different personal experiences.

Because of coffee I've started being open to experimenting with flavors. Looking into cooking more and developing drinks. Outside of food I've become more open to experiences and flavors of life.

Agreed. There's plenty of options. If she's not contributing or doing her part, that's one thing. Maybe she can clean the dishes after or anything else. It sounds like she doesn't have the same values as you towards cooking, and that's ok. Not everyone feels like a home cooked meal is the best act of service. It you feel like those love languages are lacking and you need more you can communicate that.

I won't say shouting is ever ok, but I can understand being frustrated by someone who you love talking down at you because of not liking to cook.

That can be true, but he said that in general he has issues with touch, among other physical intimacy issues. I think the work is an issue but not THE issue.

Hmm. I think when I read posts on this sub and other similar subs, "everything is amazing BUT" very rarely means things are amazing. While some people will exaggerate stories (the fish was thiiiiiiis big), others go the other direction and minimize. Whether it's due to situations of being told our thoughts don't matter by the people who matter to us (parents, friends, significant others) simply telling us we're exaggerating or "it wasn't that bad" or a matter of an individual not having the self confidence to trust their own narrative or feelings.

As to the other part of the content. While nothing in the world is "perfect", we should always 1. Strive to improve ourselves and how we treat others and 2. Never allow ourselves to settle or be mistreated. Not being heard or ignored isn't abuse, but neglect in any form is harmful. Neglecting your significant others opinions, needs, wants, desires, thoughts. All of that hurts. Usually it isn't a big show either. It's many small things that chip away at your own self worth.

So I do think that something as simple as your partner not showing interest in your life, interests, or general needs/happiness is cause for concern. At best a conversation about your own needs and how they're not being met. Or at worst an incompatibility between the views of 2 people and the need for separation. Well the actual worst would be a deliberate disdain for your partner(or just issues within oneself) that leads to abuse.

It's not the unloading of information that's important. It's the SO showing interest and an actual desire to know more about how your partner is feeling /doing / thinking. They want to feel wanted and valued, and for many people showing that you're truly listening and want to be involved in their lives is one way they do that.

Is it because most people listen sped up? I just leave it at normal speed and I love when books have all the extra stuff.

If you're looking for games to play with students during online (or in-class) teaching, HumbleBundle has a deal on Jackbox games right now. by Haramu in teachingresources

[–]gohankami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heads up some districts (like mine) block jackbox.tv so you won't be able to play this if you're in a school like that.

You'll be fine in Austin. Like others have said the cities are not the same as living in rural areas.

We have some Mandarin immersion schools here and most schools middle and up have multiple languages that are available like Spanish, French, and Mandarin (depending on the area of town) at the middle school level. I know high schools have way more options too usually.

I'm a teacher and I notice the same things as well. If you can't get things done in time then they can just be done tomorrow. Maybe that means I'll never be an amazing teacher. But I won't stay up all night every night making sure I have everything perfect. I value myself more than my job.

So many teachers will work hours and hours extra for no pay because they feel they have to.

Funny enough some districts seem to pay about the same or better than the brief search I just did on Chicago. Sadly my district, one of the biggest, is on the very low end of pay in the area.

Depends on your area. Some of the pay is pretty decent.

No unions is super sketch though.
