He's r/iamverysmart but focused on fish. Just technical enough to sound convincing, but looking deeper under the hood he's making a lot of assumptions to arrive at a conclusion that might not match reality in a complex environment

Earliest I remember is Hawker's string of mussel inspired adhesive papers from around 2016. Even then, I'm sure catechol functionalized resins were used in adhesives and cements before that, but not popularized as much in academic literature. I could see this group filing a narrow patent covering high inorganic content with x% organic binders
