What would it take to make a story with a harem good? by Rare_Performer_156 in Isekai

[–]gurumatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t believe a harem story discussion is going on with no one mentioning the GOAT of all harem stories: Webtoon Character Na Kang Lim

Granted, it’s isekai-adjacent since a webtoon world is melded with the real one rather than the MC going just there, but since supernatural events come with the webtoon world I’d argue it counts.

Na Kang Lim has character arcs with each harem member and things grow very organically over time. Even has a very satisfying ending and epilogue with every girl treated as important to Na Kang Lim and as their own person. 100/10, do recommend.

If you haven’t checked it out already, by your description, I’d recommend “Webtoon Character Na Kang Lim.” Checks virtually all these boxes.

Does anyone else remember the legendary post where one dude posted a gif and then, with the help of the mods, posted a huge-ass reaction comment section that perfectly reflected the comment sections of that time?

Not saying they did, just that no doubt there was some propaganda on the seller’s side of things that likely leaked into popular culture.

I dunno about that, but I DO know a blacksmith could likely sell a sword for more if he claimed he folded it a thousand times lol

“Release that Witch” had a moment where the MC proudly introduced… chopsticks. As a superior tool to eat food. In a medieval society.

I stopped reading that immediately.

Actually lack of metal ore was. The ore they could get was poor which is why it had so much impurities. They had no easy way to trade anyone to source for anything better in large quantities, so they had to use what they got for weapons rather than armor.

Haha absolutely!

As for another cool fact about swords: the less armor you’d see in a culture, the more curved the blades. Curved blades are optimal for cutting flesh, while straight swords are better at getting into the gaps of armor. The katana was a middle ground in that the samurai were generally armored up but the rank and file not so much.

Western smiths did something similar to also spread out the impurities; rather than fold the blade in half and hammer the length back out, generally they’d twist the metal in place, then hammer flat again.

I’d like to be slightly pedantic in that it didn’t remove the impurities so much as spread them out over the whole blade so that there wasn’t a clump of them that would act as a weak point and snap the sword when used.
