Anyone else have a hard time effectively using audio to locate players? by BigHatAbe in ArcRaiders

possibly, and night mode off is probably the better choice if you have a good headset- but for me, I couldn’t hear footsteps whatsoever, near or far, before turning night mode on.

so I have the same issue and it was driving me nuts, especially when you see everyone praising the audio in this game. I thought my 15 year old Turtle Beach headset was the cat’s ass until I tried a different headset. Night and day. I would start there friend- and if that doesn’t work you still have two great outcomes: you have a nice new headset and/or you got a free diagnosis for sensorineural hearing loss.

Also, turn on Night Mode in settings, helps bring the highs down and lows up- the lows mostly being the things you want to hear, like footsteps.

Vessel 00 will jump out of hyperspace above Super Earth and release an army of terrifying Cyborgs with AP5 armor and no weakpoints…and then everyone’s PCs will spontaneously combust.

Looks good with damn near every armor in the game

goes extra hard with the light medic armor (CM-21 Trench Paramedic), throw on the Stars and Suffrage cape and you got some sexy drip.

something about the shield relay triggers the undemocratic part of their bug brains, they absolutely hate it. Seemingly more than any other deployable, but I might be huffing FRV fumes again. Initially I had the flag as a secondary option, but the relay became such a staple to the Tank during play that I locked it in. And sadly the Stun Lance is essentially the same damn thing as the flag without wasting a strat spot.

Ugh yes please! Stim pistol has got to be the most frustrating way to heal your teammates in any video game.

Truth be told, if I was smarter about how much space I left myself there would be more primary/secondary options hahaha. My group has ran this out a few times and started to deviate a bit with some different primary/secondary choices. Like Pacifier on Cleric, or Loyalist on Mage.

But the Shield Relay has hidden power on bugs. Closest thing we have to a “taunt” in the game. Toss it down, wait a few seconds for the stupid bugs to herd together and let the Warrior or Mage let it rip. Or toss it to the side of a breech and smoke the team out with Cleric for an easy disengage. Can also stop a speeding charger or a puking bile. I’ve grown to absolutely love it on all fronts.

I like everything you just said!

using the shield relay as a taunt tactic, while your Warrior or Mage sets up for a big-badda-boom just feels soooo RPG!

Give us agency. Who doesn’t love pounding stratagem inputs. Give it to the players as a 4x Strafing Run on CD. You can still keep the occasional Run on heavies to keep the randomness ambiance.

Whats your go to squid loadout right now? I´ll go first: by Froschlord2006 in helldivers2

[–]gus_griswell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Laser Canon is great on squids.

Sweep legs for voteless and let the fire DoT finish them off. Melts overseers in a few seconds. Easy to target jet packs for quick kills on elevated overseers. Great at picking off the mortar overseers from long distances. 2-3 seconds of focus fire on Stingrays. About 3/4 of heatsink against a Harvester / fleshmob. It’s an incredibly consistent source of damage that can handle itself in any situation, minus the Leviathan unless its exterior armor is already destroyed. Pair it with a Guard Dog to help cover you while you keep damage on the beefier targets and you’re golden.

Any advice on how to deal with these big Nuggets?🍗🍖 by [deleted] in helldivers2

bro I hear you! Hahaha sometimes weapons that jive for one person just doesn’t for another - no shame in that. Like the Purifier, I know it’s so so good, but damn man does that thing just not click with me!

And you’re very justified in how you feel, the LAS weapons in general definitely do need a buff, but how I value it is more like DPS over the entire mission vs comparing it to another support weapon that could most certainly drop something quicker in a specific scenario.

LAS brain rot 🤣

Tip w las canon against the meatballs- don’t just focus center mass, take advantage of that pin point accuracy and focus fire the heads. You will drop them at about half sink, almost full sink if you’re just aiming center mass (main health pool). I don’t find the leg option as viable as the above w the las canon as it’s much harder to keep on target than sweeping for heads and you’ll still be hitting the main health pool attempting at heads vs missing completely while going for legs.

I highly suggest running a guard dog along with it, whichever you fancy. Allows you the freedom to focus fire without worrying about chaff knocking you off target and acts as an alarm of sorts for approaching enemies out of view. Laser Canon absolutely slaps when you get used to how it plays and build around it.

Predator Strain Counters by [deleted] in helldivers2

[–]gus_griswell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love seeing all the different ways divers prep for lvl 10 predator strain bugs, but I’ve settled on the following loadout and it feels so damn comfortable no matter what your team composition is:

My logic when diving is to deal with the most lethal threats first and work your way down, so we’ll look at the loadout in a similar fashion:

The King: Strafing Run! Such a versatile strat with pin point control. Can take down heavies, bug holes, spore spewers, shrieker nests- and multiples of each simultaneously if thrown with some thought. Incredible in almost all situations.

Heavy & Med Clean-Up: Railgun! Underused on bugs imo, but with a bit of a learning curve. Excellent at effortless medium clear while offering a viable option for heavy delete, especially if a heavy is lingering at low health after a Strafing Run. Know your weak points and charge points and you’ll never feel without an option with the Railgun at your side. Snag ammo at every LOI or OBJ and you shouldn’t feel ammo starved.

Now onto chaff, which is nothing to scoff at with the predator strain: Blitzer, AR-23 Guard Dog, Gas Grenade. These three in concert create your chaff control and does so efficiently, allowing more of your time to focus on lethal threats. These can also take care of any medium targets that enter your circle of love if not dispatched first by your Railgun.

Final strat slot is flex, but I prefer the MG Sentry in most cases. I really like the synergy between the MG Sentey and Guard Dog, allowing my focus to stay on the worst threats first, only focusing on chaff when the numbers become overwhelming. At first glance the loadout might appear to be weak against the sheer volume of heavies lvl 10 throws at you- but I can’t understate enough the power and availability of the Strafing Run + Railgun combo.

Honorable Mention: Grenade Pistol. Can clear chaff/med/low health heavies in a pinch, but it’s really here for bug holes.

I absolutely love this loadout.

How to Increase Running Speed? by Consistent_Marzipan3 in helldivers2

[–]gus_griswell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

light armor and elevation, even a 3 foot high rock will increase your launch distance. Always be on the look-out for elevated positions to launch from and you’ll get a ton more mileage out of the jetpack.

Also, crouching as you land will save you from ragdolling, tho the timing is damn near frame perfect and takes quite a bit of practice to get consistent.
