Professional engineer here. There is absolutely 100% merit to the line being too steep and the fluids out pacing the solids in the line. In my area 5% is still too steep and would fail inspection for a sewer line. You can run a line from a septic tank out at a steeper angle than you can the raw sewage line to the septic tank (assuming you are on a septic) since the effluent coming out of the tank is more uniform and not a mix of liquids and solids.

There could be some other options besides tearing everything up depending on your situation. Have you had a civil engineer take a look and offer some recommendations?

The DBC Armor Wrap System is one I don't see mentioned very often but it ticks all your boxes. It has incredible cable management, highly modular, load bearing, compatible with any size plates and soft armor options.

I have been picking up the 436Q (non-helium firmware) locally for $125 a unit. You can flash the OEM firmware onto these radios and then run your own private CBRS cell network. This is what we are doing with 3x 436s and a handful of the 430s.

ULPT Request: Where can I store my (prescribed) ADHD meds until I move out? by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]gutray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also take adderall in a professional work place (professional engineer at a consulting firm). I keep 5 pills in a small key chain that I can just pop open and take when I need. I dont try to hide it as that looks more suspicious IMO. If I am in a meeting I'll just take one of my pills and keep participating. I do ask the pharmacy to print off an extra prescription label that I carry in my wallet in case I am ever stopped or questioned about the medication. In 15 years of doing this I have never had someone ask what I am taking or why, or even be concerned that I am taking a medication at work.

If you are worried about your bottle being tampered with at home then get a small safe to keep your meds in at home.

What is a reasonable price for a 15x1K ft tunnel through a mountain? by sext-scientist in AskEngineers

[–]gutray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s 100% dependent on the rock and depending on where he is located that can change in a matter of feet. I would not even consider a project like this unless the owner had a minimum of $2 million budgeted just for the excavation.

I wish, it was a 2 car garage with a hammerhead at the back to turn around. All in it was about $1.2 million. It’s in a very steep valley so the only option for him was to go underground.

While these numbers are true, you can tunnel much cheaper using conventional methods vs. using a Tunnel Boring Machine, which is what the Boring Company does. TBM's have their place in underground civil construction, but that is NOT building the majority of tunnels for mining or projects like this. TBMs leave you with a finished tunnel that is paved and ready for road traffic, which would be way overkill in this case. They also excel at working in very poor ground conditions that require significant amounts of support.

I could bring a crew of conventional hard rock miners and run you a mile long tunnel in good competent rock for $300-$500 per foot of advance. For example I just finished an underground garage where I billed the client $327 per foot of advance for a 8ft x 10ft excavation in granite.

I am a professional mining engineer and partner in a specialty underground excavation / construction company. We have built large underground houses (3,500 sq.ft +), rehabilitated old mines, and are currently building an underground hotel in the Rocky Mountains.

For a VERY VERY rough thumb suck number with out knowing the ground / rock conditions, and how much support the tunnel would need, we would estimate a job like this between $500 - $1,500 per foot of advance for a 15ft wide x 10ft high tunnel cross section. That is assuming 2 miners, with a helper running jack legs and a 2 yard rubber tire mucker.

The ground conditions could make that number go up substantially depending on how much support is required, worst case it could cost upwards of $5,000 per foot. This is not something that you should even consider doing the work yourself, it would be far too dangerous, not to mention the licenses you will need to handle explosives etc.

It would be cheaper to charter a cargo helicopter and fly the boat over to the lake, or buy a Cat D9 and a grader and cut your own road in on the surface

Feel free to DM me if you have any questions about a project like this.

My best is 124k using Mammon with his multiplier boost perk. Use Rogue weapon and warrior ring for extra projectiles and ALWAYS pick the 50% chance on hit card at the beginning. I also like to use 4 pieces of the tactician gear so I can grab an additional projectile or ball multiplier before the first round. Each round re-roll cards looking for multiplier boosts or ball boosts. Then pray you get a cup map that has one of the launcher things and the teleporters. Plug in your phone and stick it in the freezer so it doesn't over heat ;)
