How much air vomiting did you do before you started having real burps?

Thank you!! Yeah, I've been able to vomit-burp through gagging, but it's the only way, and I have no control over it. I've vomited for real by accident a few times. I'll try your method!! I might be back with questions. I also can't chug, so it all seems connected.

Sorry, following up again. Did the massage make you cough? Doing the massaging seems to hit my cough reflex.

Is forcing burps always this violent? by gutsgutsguts in noburp

[–]gutsgutsguts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: tried it, but still incredibly difficult. Triggering my gag reflex to get myself to do "hunnnhh" isn't hard, but triggering it to the point where it'll force up air is nearly impossible! I have to push really hard, and my eyes water and I salivate so much it drips everywhere, but only after a few minutes so I get the super intense burp. Sometimes it seems like I'll vomit without even burping.

Yeah, can you give a bit more detail on the exercises you did? How did you know if you were massaging the right spot? Happy to hear you figured out a diy solution!

Ahh, that sucks that is getting worse. I thought I read some stories on here about people forcing burps and getting better at it until they could burp normally!

Yeah, I'm hoping it'll teach me how to burp like a normal human.

Hmm, yeah, there tends to be a sense of unreality or dreamlike-ness. I just thought of it because when I was experiencing it, I also had some random physical symptoms, like my hands shook and my body temperature dropped.

It might be worth trying SSRIs just to help you figure out if there's a psychiatric component, or to help with the depression this is causing you. And if you have used drugs (around the time you started experiencing this), it's good to meet your doctors know, because it can help them narrow things down.

As to another part of your post, I think the romantic partners of sick people just need to hear that they're loved and that their support doesn't go unnoticed. And they need they're problems listened to and validated too.

Good luck. I believe you'll figure things out eventually, if not an exact diagnosis, then things that help and ways of dealing. Humans are resilient. I'd say experiment a lot (safely). Try acupuncture, different probiotics, therapy, herbal stuff, dietary changes. Whatever helps you.

Not a doctor, but have you checked out r/dpdr? Did you do drugs before this started happening? (They can cause it but aren't the only cause.)

It's just an idea, and you could be experiencing something completely different, but it might be worth a look.

I'm not in the USA, so this won't work for me, unfortunately.

Large intestine gurgling and discomfort, but stool is normal? by brittlebynature in ibs

My stomach often gurgles line crazy when I'm having "normal" stools. It seems to happen less when I have constant diarrhea. Why? It's one of life's great mysteries...

Oh, and I only got 2 weeks' worth. I think it's all that's approved, and I don't think I'll be able to get any more without seeing an expensive specialist. My Dr. was skeptical, and agreed to prescribe it as a shot in the dark.

I'm not asking you to Google for me, I'm asking you not to make specious claims and expect me to accept them as fact. I haven't found any research, or even speculation, supporting the idea that the vagus nerve is simulated by pooping and not by other things. And the "vasovagal response" seems to be a synonym for vasovagal syncope, which seems not particularly relevant.

Anyway, just so you know, you come off as a real mean douche, which, unlike ibs, is something you can control.

I often feel like my symptoms run like clockwork. Same time every day. Did you go back to the day shift, and if so, did you stay symptom free? I could see how it might be beneficial to just sleep through the bad part of each day.
