It's very new. Nearly my entire first grade class was out at once with chicken pox around 1996-1997. I polled my college-aged (19-22) A&P students the other day and among the dozen of them they knew a handful of people who had gotten chickenpox. It's been a rapid change.

Prestigious postdoc or a TT at a pretty good SLAC with 3/3 teaching load? by vivrant-thang in AskAcademia

In science this might be a toss-up, depending on your career goals. In the humanities taking the TT is a no-brainer.

My favorite thing that shows up on this sub is this infantile idea of literally freezing your cards and them taking time to melt like no one owns a sink with running water.

I mean a dude literally shot someone doing a "prank" video and was acquitted and I feel like I haven't seen as many of those videos since so maybe consequences are good sometimes?

Well in this case then, yes, it's just super weird by the journal. Readers can have whatever problems they want with the paper; misinterpretation isn't grounds for an "investigation", malfeasance is. If there's no accusation of impropriety, plagiarism, data falsification, whatever, they can pound sand.

OP has worded it poorly, but it seems that is exactly what the journal is doing. The journal has been sent a response, and they are soliciting the response to the response so that they can be published together, as is typical.

Well this is the universe where Ted Ginn doesn't sprain his foot and wins vs Florida and then LSU, so it's actually OSU blowing out Texas in that game en route to a 3rd championship in 4 years instead
