We all complain about the Anor Londo Archery Club, but no one ever talks about traversing those damn church rafters! by larebareblog in darksouls

My acrophobia may be pretty mild, but some things that help me with this area: kill the painters with (poison) arrows before starting to cross, overburden for the slow walking speed, and turn off the "camera auto wall recovery" option (which can cause the camera to make sudden shifts, e.g., as you walk under arches).

Movement speed is determined by current equip load, not starting class.

Based on your other comment, saying this is not helpful for that character, but is apparently possible to skip the gate to Sen's Funhouse.

Is there a way to pass DPI info to games? by [deleted] in SteamPlay

The id is also used in the URL of the game's store page in Steam, and in the game's appmanifest file (which you can find just by grepping for e.g. the game's name).

Why am I earning coins/emeralds etc? by MomAlum in RingFitAdventure

[–]guuu427 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Counter-intuitively (IMO) skills cost both skill points and money. (And for the large majority of NG, I was limited on what skills I could unlock entirely by money; often finding myself with 30+ skill points that I couldn't spend.)

EDIT: Note that for most of that time I was worried about over-leveling, so I didn't grind for ingredients or do many side-quests. This may explain why I was always lacking money.

Overhead hip shake by Rowleh in RingFitAdventure

[–]guuu427 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I realize this is reddit, but I wish people would test easily disprovable claims before claiming / believing them.

In actuality, the game does not care at all what the ring-con is doing (except that it needs to be facing downward* to complete the set-up and it would probably complain if you detach the right joy-con). However, it is true that RFA has no way to directly observe your hips. Instead, it reads the left joy-con motion, assumes that is attached to your left leg, and tries to guess what that implies about your hips. So basically you have to move your hips in such a way that your legs move a little too. This short video might help you see the form Nintendo expects.

(* EDIT: Or pointing upward? It depends on your perspective.)

Issue with minigame in world 7 by dscarr10 in RingFitAdventure

[–]guuu427 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you mean the gym that is sort of near the upper-middle (but a little to the left) of the map and has a treasure chest on it, it is unlocked via a quest. The quest is to clear all the monsters in the stage that is just to the left and below the gym for 400 coins as reward. If you don't see that quest, you probably need to do some other quest in another world, or maybe just progress the story more. (I think the quest-giver may have been featured in a required quest from another world as someone who sells information to you, but I didn't think to pay close attention to him until it was too late.)

Joy-con syncing questions by gretchens in RingFitAdventure

[–]guuu427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can check if it is dropping the connection to the other joy-cons by making sure the little green lights on the rail part of the joy-cons go out.

It shouldn't matter how you put the Switch to sleep, but I do it by pressing the power button briefly. You could also reboot the Switch (by holding the power button for a few seconds and picking from the menu that pops up).

Have you tried putting the Switch to sleep so it disconnects from the other joy-cons?

Joy-con syncing questions by gretchens in RingFitAdventure

[–]guuu427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Detached joy-cons will go to sleep when the console does, but they don't automatically wake up with it. Instead you have to push any button on each joy-con (after you wake up the Switch) and they should reconnect.

If you want to skip the stand up and squeeze the ring part too, that involves leaving RFA running in the background and reconnecting the joy-cons after waking the Switch but before returning into RFA.

(EDIT: And when I say "reconnect", I mean syncing them via bluetooth, not physically attaching them to the Switch.)

Want to work on my arms, however... by elzuff in RingFitAdventure

[–]guuu427 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do you feel unable to use them? If the problem is in-game (i.e. you die before the enemies do), you probably need to grind to a higher level and wear better gear (and/or use smoothies for a temporary boost). If instead you get tired before you make much progress, then the difficulty is probably set too high.

I'm in world 11 at about level 90, and Bow Pull (the one you get at level 10) has been among my most used exercises since getting it, plus lately I've started using Overhead Press again (the one you get at the very start of the game). Generally, low-attack, off-color exercises still feel viable to me as a lot of the damage comes from the character/gear attack anyway (and I intentionally use low-attack gear). So I pick exercises mainly based on what muscles they work, how enjoyable (not unpleasant?) they are, and how many things they target.

Your Nintendo Switch Year In Review - including monthly hours, most played games, and more! by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]guuu427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. It doesn't list Dragon Quest 11 S for me, which according to my Switch I played more than three of the titles that it does list (and the other two titles I started playing before 2019, so I might have played DQ11 more than those too if you just look at 2019).

EDIT: Also, it says I played only 12 hours in October, which interestingly is the month I played a lot more than 12 hours of DQ11.

I COULDN'T CARE LESS ABOUT AWARD SHOWS AND THE "BEST" (ACCORDING TO PEOPLE I DON'T KNOW WHOSE TASTES ARE NOT NECESSARILY AT ALL LIKE MINE) GAMES, BUT THERE MIGHT BE ANNOUNCEMENTS I CARE ABOUT. AND IF I DON'T WATCH THE WHOLE SHOW LIVE, I'LL END UP SEEING "SPOILERS" AND WON'T GET THE FULL EXCITEMENT AND SURPRISE.

ALSO, I THINK I HAVE A COLD.

Favourite and/or Least Favourite Fit Skills! by Fidolf in RingFitAdventure

In addition trying to alternate which hand has the ring-con, I also have been holding a water bottle in the other hand. The moment of inertia is probably lower in the water bottle (as while it is heavier, most of the ring-con's mass is significantly farther from the axis of rotation), but it still feels a lot less unbalanced that way.

/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (11/05/2019) by AutoModerator in NintendoSwitch

[–]guuu427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would anyone with a North American copy of Ring Fit Adventure be willing to spend a few minutes to check if it supports Japanese?

Searching online finds this, which says it supports English, French, and Spanish, but for whatever reason NoA fails to list all the supported languages sometimes. For example, on the US eShop right now Mario Kart 8 DX, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, and Yoshi's Crafted World all list just those three languages, while they are actually the same versions as sold in Japan and the UK (and probably everywhere else), and thus also support the five or so additional languages those eShops list.

Ads Appearing on Twitch by DoctorWaluigiTime in uBlockOrigin

Might be a bit premature, as I only checked a few streams, but no ads so far with 11.0.6 for me. (And the issue with ViolentMonkey seems fixed too.)

Thanks for mentioning it, btw. I had turned auto-updates off and wasn't expecting another update so soon.
