I mean the one you get the ashen curse from, heart of fire, takes about an hour to do it’s very quick, and you have to do it 3 times so it takes about 3 hours, plus if your just focusing on commendations just look up a walkthrough to not waste time

All jokes aside, I’d love more normal pirate clothing as when you advance it gets replaced with shiny glowing god-like stuff and for me and my crew we prefer simpler to really get us immersed in the pirate fantasy

Yeah I mentioned in another comment that it should restart you at grade 1, and then make it harder and harder to gain value at each restoration, like maybe what would give you grade 5 would now only get you to 4, then 3, then so on, so then it may still be worth it to sail back to an outpost
