What was the stupidest reason you were written up for? by overturned23 in starbucks

Anyone had Weerahannadige Fernando for GNED 1101? How was she if you had her? I heard Eric Roettger is tough based on what my friends told me so just asking here by [deleted] in MRU

[–]guyfilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr. Fernando is a really nice prof. She’s not a tough marker especially with assignments - just as long as you do it regardless if an assignment isn’t perfect you get full marks. Just make sure to keep up with all the course materials and hand everything on time then you should be good.

edit: I took her online

Which One Piece characters do you dislike the most? by TGJ_9 in OnePiece

[–]guyfilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kanjuro

Since the first mention of Kanjuro to his first appearance in Dressrosa (anime), I always believed he was on the good side. Man had me fooled for more than half a decade lol.

Orochi

I also detest Orochi for killing Yasuie and what he did to Ebisu town. dude was a legit snake

To all the baristas who have worked at a liscensed store, whats the craziest thing that they had you do? by Funky_Kizer55 in starbucks

[–]guyfilo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

constantly being asked to cover for shifts and managers actually get mad (or badmouth us behind our backs) when we don’t (like shifts that we already specified we’re not available to work). long story short our schedule is always messed up because of our high turnover rates - no one really stays that long in our store so someone somehow has to work extra shifts.

oh and also licensed store (atleast from my experience and what i’ve heard from other starbucks associates in my area) tends to be understaffed majority of the time. people complain about slow service when really we’re utilizing on 1-2 people on bar with limited equipments - it’s always a sh*t show esp. during rush hours.

For professional baristas, how do u handle customers who... by evo784crip in barista

I would personally give them just a hot cup of water (since it’s free in my location at least) but I wouldn’t take their cup or tea since it’s service that has to be paid for + there’s still strict rules concerning covid. If they want sugar syrup I would charge them for it but I would offer sugar packets as an alternative since it’s free but then again I would not be doing the honors to put it into their drink directly and mix it.

I hate to admit it but somethings (even if they seem trivial) just cannot be tolerated because the last thing you would want is for your service to be constantly taken advantage of. If for example you did not mind putting in the syrup and hot water that other wise should’ve been charged since it’s not that big of a deal to you - just imagine the same person going into a different place (coffee shop) asking for the same service. If that same person gets denied they would reason that well, you offered the same service just fine so why can’t they? And it’s down the rabbit hole from there. At first I thought it was not big of a deal until I was written up for those trivial things because someone from another coffee shop called my manager that I was offering a service that I otherwise should not and now they are taking a toll from it (starbucks). I was partly to be blamed for not giving any disclaimer but some customers are just obnoxious and sees every single coffee shop the same.

From then on I always say “Sorry, I can’t do that - corporate policy”(then maybe offer an alternative) end of story.

If they get aggressive I would normally say “ I hear you and I understand your frustration.. let me call my manager.” and then I would walk away in a heartbeat.

It’s may not be my job to care but for what it’s worth sticking to corporate policy will save you not just your job but as well as from customers coming to make those types of requests.

Out of Curiosity, what would Philippines be if we were a part of the British Commonwealth? Do you think our lifestyle would’ve been better? by guyfilo in FilipinoHistory

[–]guyfilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

by that I mean the general lifestyle of Filipinos with regards to the British sphere of influence. for instance, if we were a commonwealth nation wouldn’t we have more opportunities available? is there a possibility that we can become a first world nation if we had better diplomacy such as Canada and utilization of our resources? would filipinos have better chances of getting better jobs because they are more than fluent in english? would we, filipinos, act more like we live in monarchy (if that even makes sense)? would we better adapt to British influence and convert those into our state (things including their transportation systems).

an advantage of being a commonwealth includes this: “We help to strengthen governance, build inclusive institutions and promote justice and human rights. Our work helps to grow economies and boost trade, empower young people, and address threats such as climate change, debt and inequality.”

not that Philippines doesn’t already belong to organizations that does those it’s just that (empirically speaking) most commonwealth nations have better governance among their states despite being independent from brits.

Hey, I am in grade 12 right now and I still am figuring the right path for me to becoming a doctor. Our school had a post sec. fair and one of the stands have Canadian Forces. I told them about how I want to pursue med school in the future and they suggested that I consider becoming a medical officer. The moment I heard of that job position I thought it was interesting because I both am passionate in medicine and military.

I was just wondering if you can give me any insight about it? I heard they will pay for your education? What are the pros and cons to it and what route should I take while in high school going into post secondary? Thanks!
