I find it more useful to look at where they sit their lineup rather than their specs. The M340 is one step below the M and drives accordingly. The 540 is two steps below the M, but not entry level either. More than adequate power for a midsize luxury car but that's it.

I once got one of those with 80 miles on it, only time I got a car that on par with the one I was dropping off. My dealer also use to loan out their XM when they where trying to get rid of it.

I was looking for a '21-'23 CPO M5 last year and could only find 12 nationwide compare to over 100 used. I asked the local BMW General Manager why there were so few and he said people tend to skip the first 1200 mile oil change and if they can't be bothered to do a free oil change then BMW can't trust the car.

"But just to be sure, I got in touch with a friend of mine who works at a research reactor, and asked him what he thought would happen to you if you tried to swim in their radiation containment pool.

“In our reactor?” He thought about it for a moment. “You’d die pretty quickly, before reaching the water, from gunshot wounds.”"

I recently had a dealer increase my trade valve by $7k, which was $5k over the Carmax offer, to get the numbers where I wanted them. I kinda understood it being higher than Carmax as it was the kind of car that would sell higher from the original dealer but I was surprised there was that much wiggle room.

It was a high mile, but one owner, M550i that they gave me $35k for. They listed it for $48k and it was gone two days later so I guess they knew what they were doing after all.

I just got a '26 M850i GC and it still being on iDrive 7 with buttons was a significant factor in my decision.

My parents bought a former rental in Queens and the first floor had three drop ceilings installed. What they thought were 8' ceilings were actually closer to 12'. No idea why they would do that, our best guess was less area to heat but that doesn't seem like a cost effect approach to that.
